Apple has eliminated the price for upgrading your iPod touch to the latest firmware, making version 3.1.3 free http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Apple+iPhone+30+software/news.asp?c=18486
That sucks. Well at least with an iPod Touch you don't have a $140 phone bill for two people. I guess at the least we can get free upgrades.
So can we finally get rid of the myth that says iPod Touch owners have to pay because of some law. We don't. Apple is not - despite the wishes of the dribbling fanboys - above the law so this shows that Apple charge iPod Touch owners because they can and because they want to screw us for even more money. Remember this when OS4 comes out and someone says "It's because of this law" - which was crap anyway because US laws - despite the wishes of the US Administration - do not apply globally.
Going from 3.x to 3.x.newversion has always been free. Going from 2.x to 3.x costs. And I don't see that apple has changed that officially. Can anyone with a 2.x iPod confirm? arn
if you are jail broken do not upgrade. im not gonna bother upgrading till 4x i had to pay 10.00 just to get to 3.x chris.
If it is not free for you, it is because you are running firmware older than the 3.0s and have not yet paid for an upgrade. They charged $9.95 for the 3.0 upgrade, so it makes sense that they would charge if you haven't yet paid that price, since it will be unlocking all those same features that other people paid for too. However, if youre running Septembers 3.1 or newer, even as an iPod touch owner, you ARE eligible to download the new software free of charge.
so did I, I think they only charge for new versions as from 2.0 to 3.0, so the next one would be 3.0 to 4.0? Anyway i have 3.1.3 and it was free.
