Hi everyone, I have recently gone indie with a couple guys and we've been working on our first game for the past month. Demanding but very cool so far But in an effort to learn from others games that were released on the AppStore before us, we decided to not only study successful big names but also games that failed to generate the same traction, despite having a solid core gameplay. Maybe their marketing was bad or some particular IAP or feature ruined an otherwise great game. Do you guys have any games that come to mind, games that could have been great but just missed the mark? Double points if they're dungeon crawlers and/or strategy games
At least RR3 is a sim racer, and under the freemium elements Rees a good game. DH3 is just an arena based hack n slash, no story, no NPCs, no real sense of loot lust, NOTHING that made the first two fun.
True, but it could have been great, in fact, the best game on ios. DH3 never had that kind of potential. But not disagreeing with you. But you get double points for it being a dungeon masher from the first post though...
I do agree with RR3, i have little urge to play this even though the graphics and tracks are great. Because of the freemium structure, the game just doesn't flow between races with too much waiting. Also, i recently posted a reply in SFvT and that was a disappointment - was so looking forward to that. Guess i'll stick with NFSMW and SF Volt!
1. No , I actually think burnout crash was a good game all that was wrong was that people thought it was crash mode from burnout when it was a port of an XBLA game of the same name 2. Even after the new update? Never got it but from TA the only thing wrong was the controls and they were supposed to be fixed after the update
Tough call with virtual controls but: Marvel vs Capcom 2 IAP centric glu & gameloft games with pay walls could count but there are too many to list
Yeah, I have to agree. While there are inapps, I have felt a good sense of progression even without using any. And many titles I got for 99 cents on sale, so I think personally they have been fair and not too obtrusive. Glu games though have been different for me, they play great for about an hour, then there is a huge paywall that appears, often times to the point of being almost impossible without further inapps. Kinda wished they made their games pay to unlock all levels or something, cause at first they are fun.
