Bizarre and intriguing. Reminds me of all those flashing tech demos people used to put out for the C64. Now I just need a kickass chiptune creator and a record button to start making my own 8-bit movies.
Wow, I am really loving the idea of this game. I'm a sucker for "nongames" where the goal isn't specifically given to the player. Kind of like Noby Noby Boy in a way.
Hi guys, we have been interviewed by Pockett magazine the GDC Europe today and here is the article with the few elements of the game we disclosed (sorry it's in french) http://www.pockett.net/n10845_iPhone_The_SandBox_un_bac_a_sable_experimental_plein_de_promesses_sur_iPhone_et_iPad You can find here an artwork of the game: Translation The SandBox will be an experiments game. The plural form is used on purpose, as the title will allow you to build thousands of experiments of all kinds. The game concept is simple: you will be dropping on the game screen all sort of elements that will interact between each others. Put soil on the ground, add water ... plant seeds and you will grow vegetation and trees. You will unlock then a new element: wood! Each time you create a new element, you will unlock it for your future creations! What would you like to see in The SandBox? Tell us your ideas! Pixowl team
I think it would be cool if you could make objects with your materials such as a pickax to enable you to dig down into the rock and obtain other elements such as rock, iron, copper, ext. It also might be cool to have limited supply (maybe in a different game mode or not) depending on how much you collected such as trees. if you need more wood just plant more trees and use a hatchet to cut it down. You could call it survival mode or some such name.
Me too You said it! Iv'e been looking for a game much like this. Were you can be creative, make experiments and all sorts of things. And best of all its free play, no based plot or levels or anything like that, its the best sandbox based game ever.
Got some suggestions! Well as I stated before I would like to see some sort of survival element to the game, such as limited supplies due to what you obtain. also the ability to use the elements you have to make tools or mechanisms, such as a pick axe to obtain rock, iron, copper, or a hatchet to get wood from trees, ext... Also if electricity is possible in this game it could be used to craft motors. Any good sandbox based game has pins/nails or hinges to connect things so that would be a cool idea too. Also I think it would be cool to not only do your creativity on the surface but also you could pan underground, find a cavern to do it in or make a space yourself. I have been wondering is the game window fixed on one piece of landscape or can you pan across a large landscape. And, is there randomly generated land or do you star out on a blank screen. My questions could go on so I will stop there. Thanks for your time..
Also in addition i think that Pixowl would be a proper name for this app. Just name it after the maker Pixowl, it sounds like a fitting name i think
Hi everybody Here is a new gameplay video for you to look at. We will soon be starting opening the beta testing! cheers Pixowl
Not very sure what this would do at the end, but that's quite an interesting experiment! Right now, it feels like a platform where we can draw on with pixels, and it'll be brought to life via physics. :>
Hello fellow gamers! We are now opening the Beta Testing and you can apply as long as you own at least one iOS device. You can signup here: http://www.pixowl.com/beta.html We are awaiting many testers! Thank in advance Pixowl Team
