I made a few attempts and noticed that 2 of any 'condition' (save Segmented Genome) can be applied w/o any change to the picture. Subsequent evolved 'conditions' by the game do not appear to affect the picture. This could point to a 'game mechanic' but I've not been terribly successful in any of my attempts. I thought it noteworthy to share and see if someone else's attempts would be fruitful.
EDIT: I've also attempted to completely 'darken' the brain, but to no avail. Not sure if it's due to the steps that must be followed or just another smoke screen.

Yes, the image showing the disease progression has been around for as long as I have seen the game. The fact that Segmented genome triggers this with one evolution is VERY interesting. Perhaps it is a combination lock based on things evolved, and that is the first one. Events might be other "pins" in the lock. Before we get excited, I think we should clarify one thing.
Edit: The image progression is based on points spent and not number of evolutions. Scratch all of this
