You just want a dpad? No moving parts?

I think you might want to specify the specs of the dpad you need, if it is animated, transparent, etc..

Took about 5 mins and made a simple dpad for you in mspaint, just in case you don't find any.

lol, i wondered if anyone would notice the D :)

I would have done something more proper if he gave some specs and I had the time.

Thank you, however I was looking for something a bit more "professional-looking"...
I have designed a few d-pads for my other projects in the past (below is just one example)

For my current project I was hopping to get something more fitting in to the fps genre...
Below is the video of the game (just in case :))

BTW, I am savvy enough with photoshop and objective-c to do the highlights on press, etc..

ah, you probably want something that feels more along the lines of an analogue stick and not a dpad for something like that.

I agree. In which case you could probably get away with a beveled circle that moves inside a larger circle.

Well, ROTT is almost a direct descendant of wolf3d and everyone seemed to like the d-pad controls on that game:

Plus, d-pad kinda gives you visual feedback - you can tell if you got the diagonals, etc..
So I am pretty sure that I want to use d-pad graphics, even if on the background it's implemented more as an analogue stick...

The controls in Wolf3D work well, but I don't particularly think they look very good... I prefer the WolfRPG options graphically.

I need something like this for the next version of iPlutoid, so I just had a quick whizz around in photoshop. Seems pretty easy to knock something like this up. Anyway, you can have these as they are most definitely royalty free. Evidently the smaller image is the joystick and would sit on the larger image (with a significant amount of see through applied)

I did this UI for Theseus that the dev never ended up using, so if you want the D-pad from here, you're welcome to have it...
