This may seem like a really strange question but I have an apple dock for my iPod and I like to be able to play games while it is charging. Can anyone recommend any games that are in portrait orientation and don't use the accelerometer?

I second that. Probably the best portrait game of them all. I also love, orbital, and I dig it, and zen bound!

Samurai works very well indeed. I also want to add Uno.

If you like RPGs and old-school turn based Dungeon Crawlers, then Rogue Touch fits your needs. No accelerometer, played in portrait, minimal tapping with Fast-Play enabled in settings... :)

I'm obviously biased, but MonsterKill just came out and plays in portrait mode with touchscreen gesture controls.

Portrait games that don't use the accelerometer?

The Terminator (not Terminator Salvation from Gameloft, this is a different game...same franchise IP though, but a multidirectional shooter like Smash TV or iDracula) can be played in portrait mode.

Also, one of my favorite games on the platform, Soul Trapper, is played in portrait view. It's an audio adventure game, very unique on this platform. A lite version is available to try. Try it and see if it interests you.

Also, older games like Enigmo, Samurai Puzzle Battle, and just about any of the hidden object games are playable in portrait and do not require the accelerometer for control.

BTW, if you do try Soul Trapper, keep this in mind:

You MUST use headphones. As an audio adventure game it uses positional audio, and so that tinny iPhone/touch speaker just isn't going to work well at all.

Just scrolling through the pages on my iPod Touch:

    Str8ts
    Puzzle Maniak
    10 Pin Shuffle
    Arctic Shuffle 2
    The Quest
    Nukeball
    Huebris
    Toy Box
    Mind Wall
    Dragonbane II
    Magnetrox
    Roadkill Cafe
    BaDaBoo
    Geared
    Critter Defense

I've bolded some of the ones I think I'd play more often if my iPod was in a dock. (Mine usually sits landscape in a ghetto stand made of two spring clips!)

The quest can be played in portrait mode. I'd recommend it if you like old school rpgs like daggerfall.

Puzzle and match 3 games are ace.

    Azkend, Skabooki Drop7

Tower Madness and Galcon if you like strategy type games. Actually, TD games are great for when you're charging. You don't have to press that many buttons.
