what games had to playing for hours on end just to see the ending or just because the visuals or game play were excellent (please no game like endless runners or so, the game has to have a story)
OMG. +111111111111111111111111111111111111111 I was just about to say those!!! haha. Great minds think a like I suppose. To add to that amazing list: Game Dev Story Mission Europa
In terms of games with a specific, narrative-based storyline with an actual plot, Broken Sword is the only I've played that has sucked me in like that. Battle for Wesnoth also holds your complete attention, but only within each scenario. There are a few other games though without as much of plot: Dungeon Raid Dark Nebula 2 Game Dev Story In all those three you just kind of lose sense of your surroundings, and the time, and you just play for ever, or until it all ends. Dungeon Raid in particular, once you get going, you just zone out.
Deadspace by far has total depth and storyline. It feels and plays like a console game. An instant buy for anyone who wants to see the power of IOS.
Canabalt. It is an endless runner, but the atmosphere and music actually make it pretty dang immersive (if you have the volume of your headphones cranked up high enough). +1 for S&S
As someone's mentioned before, Dead Space, Phoenix Wright, and Sword and Sworcery. Another great one is Broken Sword! That game should not be overlooked
Depends on your game tastes but I have throughly enjoyed Sword & Poker, Game Dev Story & Civilization Revolution.
