I was looking through the site, and found a lot of people asking for an iPhone app. I had a bit of spare time, so with the help of iCodeBlog (I copied some of the files from a tutorial, because my own implementation wasn't working) I did a bit of work.
I've put it on SourceForge, so other people can contribute. At this stage the homepage is done through Apple's RSS reader for the iPod - I'm currently working on theming a web application in Dashcode, although it would need to be hosted on this site. The new apps could be done through making it load the new games page with a custom style sheet. Forums would need a web app to read the database - this would be a big job, as it would need to handle cookies, as well as reformatting. The admins here could help with that.

If no-one wants to help, that's OK. But if people want to get involved, then we can develop and submit it to the App Store.

Without further ado, here's the link:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/toucharcadeapp/

Admins, could you upload a Dashcode web application with your feed URL in it? I would like to see how it looks. Alternatively, download and then upload the pre-made package on SourceForge

It's great to see someone finally taking this project on! I hope enough developers decide to chip in to lift the pressure a bit. Good luck :)

Done a bit more work on it, but before I do any more, I need to know if the TA admins support this and would be happy for me to use their icons, and host a web app on their site.

Great to see somebody has started development on a TA app.

Opened up the app and ran it in the simulator - looks great! Great view of the RSS feed. I wonder how hard it will be to implement the forums portion of it.

It's open source, so anyone with a dev license can give it to you. I'm saving my slots though.

Seems like so long ago that I mentioned this :p I was one of the first to mention it, and I was made a laughing stock, and now look where we are!

The first? Idk about that

    EDIT:

Skipper, you're referring to this thread?

Do you know why you were made the "laughingstock"? Because you weren't the first to suggest it. You must not have picked up on everyone's heavy amount of sarcasm who posted in the thread

  14. I realize that now :p

Also, I was thinking that I everyone used the app, how would the site get money? Two options - the admins submit it and charge 99c for it, or it could be ad-supported (nicely, think Tweetie on the Mac).

Personally I would rather risk the whole $0.99 than have ads, but if they're nice adds I wouldn't complain too much.

Two versions: One free one with ads. One paid on without ads.

I'd prefer not to have any, but the TA owners have to make money somehow.

exactly. Those who arent hardcore users of this site wouldn't want to buy it (they may be really cheap), and I'm sure they can live with ads. Hardcore users will buy it. If not they'll get P'd from constantly seeing ads.
