Great to hear it runs great on a 4th gen. Right now, I'm experiencing this running it on my iPad. =oP

synthetic, I haven't had any of the issues mentioned but I'm playing solely on the iPhone.
I was happy to see that Pocket Gamer gave Super Ox Wars its somewhat rare Gold Medal award. |

Do you think Super Ox Wars gameplay is at same (top) level of other iOS vertical shutmups like Raiden's and Taito's? I guess it's often understimated because of its "niche" graphic.

The scoring system in Super Ox Wars is definitely 'up to par' with the 'top' games within the genre, and having the multiple GC leaderboards is a huge help when considering the replay value as well. Even without the boards though, playing over and over for that 'perfect' run is something I would strive for. I do wish that there was a more... 'hardcore' difficulty in just about all of Minter's games... but because there's not, personally, I don't think I'll ever really place them 'up there' with games like Raiden. However, they are still fairly difficult, and I have no problem comparing them more to the likes of R-Type, Earth Defense Force and Battle Squadron... even though they do generally have more projectiles, and have the great scoring systems, I feel that these are more the 'right' placement for Minter's type of games. I will say that I love the crazy graphics, and that his games shouldn't be discarded by any shmup fan, regardless of skill level. **edit** I don't mean this as a bad thing to anyone that absolutely considers Minter's titles top of the pack. I can completely see where you're coming from in terms of enjoyment and fun factor as well as challenge and replay value... I just think that the 'bullet-hell' genre has spoiled me in terms of game difficulty and amount of projectiles/enemies as well as the speed factor. Gridrunner and Super Ox Wars will NEVER be deleted from my iPad... if that makes any sort of difference here. Last edited by syntheticvoid; 01-01-2013 at 08:18 AM.. |
