(No joke, that's the official description) Spacewrights http://spacewrights.com An FTL-esque 4X space exploration game including on land planet exploration and delicious pixel art. This is absolutely one to watch. You can read the full description on the website.
Dev here Well you try to come up with a better description. Players control a fleet with ships and the crew in the ships. There's a whole galaxy to explore and control where you can build new ships, stations, and systems in. It's a space simulation game that I hope everyone enjoys. Also I'm the developer of Spacewrights, if you had not gathered that already. Thanks to SirHanet for tipping me off to this thread. If anyone has any questions I can answer them here.
Dear SpaceWrights, Please don't be iPad only. This looks insanely promising allthough some of those screenshots seem comically too similar to FTL [not necessarily a bad thing]
From their website: Spacewrights is designed to be enjoyed on a variety of form factors on a variety of systems: large or small screens; keyboard & mouse, touchscreens, or controllers (for local multiplayer); it doesnt matter. The game should be fun anywhere you want to play it. Currently these operating systems will be supported at launch: Windows: Windows 8.1, Windows 8, and Windows 7 currently work. Windows Vista and XP may work but are untested. Windows RT support is not planned at this time. Linux: Ubuntu and Linux Mint currently work. Other distros may work but are untested. Mac: Mavericks has been tested and older versions probably work. iOS: iPhones and iPads both work. It has been tested on the iPhone 4S and iPad air. Older versions of these may work but are untested. Android: Phones and Tablets running 4.0+ have been tested. Older devices are untested but may work.
I didn't mean anyhting bad that, sorry if It came across that way. Honestly, it's the best damn description I've ever seen. Also, I feel pretty accomplished to have one of my threads feature in a TA article And to you, the dev: This game looks incredible. Hope things go well for you, I look forward to the Kickstarter
TA article says 2015. This game looks nice. First it was FTL, then PSI submarine and now this one... Nice!
Dev here To everyone asking about versions of iOS: I've tested it on an iPad Air and iPhone 4S. iOS 5.0+ should be good. Spacewrights runs on the same engine Double Fine's Broken Age does so expect similar devices to run on. Currently the user interface does not work well on iPhones. There's too much going on for such a small screen, but it runs perfect. I've been playing with letting the camera pinch zoom in and out to help manage all the action on such a small screen, and it does help. With less action like exploring planets, negotiation with aliens, and building ships the iPhones' screen size are fine. Regardless, the game runs on iPhones so it will be released on iPhones. As for when to expect it: A playable demo should launch later this summer with the crowdfunding campaign. Probably next month. That demo with just be a Windows executable because that's where most of the interest is, and it's the easiest platform to target.
Sup Dev, Do the crowd funding on because it is far more better than IndieGoGo. Please, I can spread the word about it. Also, will this game be able to run on a iPod Touch 3G 32GB that runs IOS 5.1.1? Side Note: I will try to play the demo when it comes out!
