Gov Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2013 2,257 0 0 #10 Gov, Aug 11, 2013 Well let me tell you, games that don't adapt with current screens, have terrible control layouts. Even if it had an option to arrange the controls, it wouldn't work. It would halt at the edges where the screen is blank. The experience will be off-putting, and I don't want to experience a classic in this situation. Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #11 Royce, Aug 11, 2013 This game hasn't been updated in over 2 years, so I doubt there will ever be iPhone 5 widescreen support. Also, just FYI, this isn't the original DD. it's the remake, sequel, homage, or whatever that was originally made for the Zeebo. Gunlock Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2010 472 0 16 #12 Gunlock, Aug 11, 2013 Yes, but look at Sonic the Hedgehog. It also had a "specific field of vision", and it got updated to widescreen and the results are brilliant. So it is doable, just a question of whether the devs are going to update the game. I would buy it but without widescreen support it is really uncomfortable to play this type of games (platformers, side-scrolling etc.) Gov Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2013 2,257 0 0 #13 Gov, Aug 11, 2013 I just hope they update Streets of Rage 1,2 & 3, just like he did with Sonic 1 & Sonic CD. Christian Whitehead did an amazing job on both with his - retro software development kit (rdsk). smegly Well-Known Member Mar 27, 2012 990 0 0 NY, NY #14 smegly, Aug 11, 2013 The doablility depends on how much the game counted on things occurring outside the field of vision. If enemies are meant to appear in the game off screen, that's different than just seeing more of a platformer than you were originally meant to. It would work well for Sonic, but some games that require slightly off-screen enemy spawning. SoR games or this game have a challenge that's based around a specific amount of clutter in a given space. They'd have to put in a different enemy appearance formula for widescreen in such a game. I don't really get the complaint that people with extra screen feel they are getting less than someone who doesn't have that when they are playing the same game. It's like being annoyed by the part of the phone that isn't screen not being screen. I just don't think it's worth it to flood a game's thread with widescreen issues when most people aren't actually playing on widescreen anyway nor was it an option when the game was made. A 2011 game isn't going to sell enough in 2013 to warrant a gameplay overhaul for a quarter of the small number of new users. I feel the same way about people with low RAM devices flooding threads with their compatibility woes. Gov Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2013 2,257 0 0 #15 Gov, Aug 11, 2013 Tested DD out just to see how things work, and honestly, it ain't great. My thumbs are forced to play closer in the middle of the screen, which make it hard to see where enemies are, forcing me to quit the app. The app works fine, but i certainly won't be purchasing it, even at the current price drop. Gov Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2013 2,257 0 0 #18 Gov, Aug 11, 2013 But the app was bought legitimately by an enterprise company. So how is it pirating?
