I looked at the steam reviews and overall they're actually positive. The majority of all bad reviews were due to the translation (bad or missing English). A valid complaint however that makes the score misleading as I thought the game itself is bad but it's actually the text that's an issue. There are also some input issues but I'm not sure if that translates over to the mobile version. I love anime / ROTK / gorgeous art. This looks right up my alley. jackiemac Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Feb 19, 2009 97 1 8 #16 jackiemac, Dec 1, 2016 Last edited: Dec 1, 2016 Impressions after an hour of play I'm playing Attack Heroes on an iPad Air (1st Gen). After about an hour of play, here's what I can tell you: Graphics and effects are awesome and music is lively and driving -- as you can see and hear from videos. The story so far is... quirky, like some anime's can be, but entertaining enough -- even with the odd English translations. There is an interesting strategic element to battling. You have four slot to place heroes. In battles, heroes take 'turns' -- from left-most position to right. You choose a skill you want to use. Once executed, the next hero (to the right) becomes active and you can choose a skill for that hero. After the right-most hero has their turn, play continues with the left-most hero and so on. This all happens in real-time. (The game is not paused between 'turns'. There is one exception to this "default" order, which I'll get into a bit later. Heroes start on the left of the screen. Opponents enter from the right (although they may move all over the place after they enter). Hero skills tend to be most effective when an opponent(s) is in a certain area of the screen. Some hero skills deal the most damage at the left area of the screen, some in the middle, some at the right, some in other places. Some attacks don't work at all if you "miss". For example, one of the heroes has a skill that grabs an opponent in the middle of the screen. If there isn't an opponent there, the skill effectively fails. So, using the correct skill for where the opponents are on the screen is important. It's also important to note that skills have a cool down period. So, a particular skill may not yet be available the next time a hero has their turn. Eventually, I imagine you'll want to order your heroes to create the best combos. For example, a hero with a skill that hits (pushes) opponents to the right side of the screen, followed by a hero with a skill that clobbers them on the right side of the screen. An exception to hero ordering is the "Assistive Skill". When a hero has one of these they will highlight (in blue). You can tap this hero out of order to unleash a pretty potent attack. Or, at least visually potent one. Anyway, the sequence now continues with that hero and to the right and around as normal. Assistive skills have a cool down too. Between 'levels', you can level-up your heroes using gold, which unlocks skills. As you complete levels, you unlock new heroes which can then be acquired with souls. Newly completed levels give you gold and soul. You can replay levels for gold (and skip the story dialog segments, which is very nice). After completing a level, you can choose to watch an ad video for additional gold. Every 5 minutes, you can choose to watch an ad video for 1 soul. Also, every 20 hours, it looks like you can watch 3 ads for a bunch of gold. Note: the game crashed a few times after watching an ad, which was kind of a bummer. But, game progress was saved. You can play the game without connection to the internet, but you won't be able to watch ad videos for 'bonus' gold or souls. You can purchase gold and souls for real $$, but so far I haven't had to given the number of ways to get the in-game currencies. In the hour of play, I haven't hit anything near a paywall. We'll see as I continue playing. It's a fun game and I'm enjoying it so far. I hope this helps! Correction: Every so often -- two hours this time -- not 20 hours, you can watch ads for a percent increase (up to 100%) in gold acquired from completing levels. The game refers to this as "Lucky". bestkevin Well-Known Member Jul 4, 2012 190 0 0 #17 bestkevin, Dec 1, 2016 K. So I bought it. Downloading now. Lots of ppl like it and it's only a $1. Love anime art styled game since I'm an Anime fan(maybe an Otaku). L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,391 398 83 #18 L.Lawliet, Dec 1, 2016 I'm actually really enjoying this! The gameplay is really unique and actually requires quite a bit of strategy. Art is damn gorgeous. The only thing I have a complaint against (which is quite big) is that unlocking characters requires gems that you get once per mission. There definitely are not enough missions to unlock them all so you have to watch ads in return. You could argue that it's optional but it seems you'll never be able to get those characters unless you pay for the gems or watch ads. You can't earn them in game. And actually I'd be fine with the ads but most games that utilize ad watching features have this terrible problem where the ads are stored permanently on your device, meaning they continue to bloat the game every time you watch ads. The first ad already added 20 mb onto the app.. wtf. esty8nine Well-Known Member Dec 21, 2013 1,044 0 0 #19 esty8nine, Dec 1, 2016 Is that real ^ that's crazy I didn't know that Nagy Andras New Member Nov 24, 2016 4 0 0 #20 Nagy Andras, Dec 1, 2016 Loveing it!
