Play Despot Dungeons, a 1-Bit Roguelike Puzzler For Free

Real Fast's Hjalte Tagmose may have failed to meet his #1GAM - One Game a Month development challenge deadline in August, but no matter.

The solo developer has gone ahead and released his created project on itch.io & the Play Store for free this month anyway. Now go, play the disenfranchised frog, get out of the sewers and overthrow the despot from his throne. Featuring a chiptune OST by Higher Eclectic Ground's Simone Bernacchia; more in my official announcement. :)

    Spooky Springs | Will Phillips

Spooky Springs is the first from a 10-Track OST Will Phillips has been developing for Bodhi Games' unannounced, 3D platformer since Q4 2016.

Drawing inspiration from Grant Kirkhope's playful style, the near two-minute loop is meant for a haunted, wild-west ghost-town level, appropriately combining guitars, clip-clopping of hooves, and the fiddle. Like it? There's more to come but for orchestral jazz/latin/rock/funk music requests of your own, get in touch.

    Enemy Shows | J.M.D

Brooding, dark and ambient, here is a sample of cutscene music created for Project R3D's upcoming sci-fi, Metroidvania styled platformer for AGA Amiga devices.

Called 'Enemy Shows', the track is but one from a 2-hour OST that retro music composer Simone Bernacchia has created for the project. Did you know Simone has been creating music for Amiga homebrew games, commercials and now modern-retro games since 1989?

Currently accepting original music requests in the retro chip-rock, electronic and ambient genres.

    Doubts | Alfredo Sirica

Created for a sequence where the film's characters are seen carrying out their daily chores through a period of emotional distrust, this 2-minute composition is called Doubts.

Of the ambient genre, it is one of fifteen tracks Alfredo Sirica has created for Running Wild Films and 5J Media produced 2016 feature film Porches and Private Eyes. With a background in classical music, Alfredo is actively looking for story-driven gaming adventures to create soundtracks for.

The Seas Dragon | Sam Oz

Orchestrated & named on a whim, the near-three minute composition of 'The Seas Dragon' has Sam Oz express a surge of joyful emotion.

He does this by starting out with the violin, transitioning towards French horns, voices and the piano, before concluding on a finale of all instruments. Like what he's created? Sam's accepting original music requests for your games from not just the classical, but a multitude of other genres.

Visit his portfolio or e-mail us at sean.b[at]highereg[dot]com to know more and get started.

    Bridge Strike Intro | JMD

Bridge Strike has an intro sequence!

What makes it all the more relevant to myself is that playing in the background is the game's title theme, worked on by retro game music composer JMD - Jovanotti MUST Die whom I've been repping since late 2015.

Bridge Strike is an upcoming top-down shooter for Commodore Amiga 1200's, in development by Project R3D, with an entire OST developed by JMD.

Proficient in the retro chip-rock, electronic and ambient genres, he's always looking for new retro game projects to work on. Get in touch by shooting sean.b[at]highereg[dot]com an e-mail or by visiting his profile.

What do you think of the intro meanwhile? Is it Top Gun enough for your tastes?

    Flight | Van Reeves

Three and a half minutes of Flight is the perfect feel-good tune for your Monday, I'll say.

Non-dance yet still synth-driven, mellow yet still energetic, it is a fusion of video game musician Van Reeves' experiments with the cinematic, ambient & electronic genres from the past year.

And it's available for Creative Commons use in your games! Mail sean.b[at]highereg[dot]com with your request for a copy.

    Moon Toon | Will Phillips

More of Grant Kirkhope's playfulness only this time, with a touch of spacey weirdness. This is Moon Tune from the portfolio of Will Phillips.

From developing the original scores of films, TV series and live performances, the Louisville, Kentucky based trumpeter has also contributed to a plethora of handheld and PC games thus far. Jazz, Latin, Rock and Funk-infused orchestral is his predominant flavor. To collaborate, e-mail sean.b[at]highereg[dot]com or visit Higher Eclectic Ground.

My Son, My Challenge | Sam Oz

Sam Oz's 30-second entry that secured third place at the ADAM AudioSoundtrack Competition last year.

In using the cello, a set of Bulgarian female vocals and four distinct notes of the piano, the musician sought to capture an air of dangerous tension and mystery.

As always, similar set pieces for your games' soundtracks may be developed by mailing sean.b[at]highereg[dot]com. To view Sam's portfolio or simply applaud his work, do pay him a visit.

    PROCESS | Sam Oz

Really all Studio Agami's PROCESS wants to do with its original soundtrack is be evocative of zen.

Composer Sam Oz maintains a strong sense of cool throughout, relying primarily on synthesized guitars and vocals in his 11-track album for the memory-reflex puzzler. Play it and/or download the original score for free via Sam's music profile.

    Tanks Furry | JMD

The Amiga was well-before my time although I wish it wasn't just for the sake of this trailer.

Two years since Project R3D launched Tanks Furry, multi-directional shooter featuring both a free-to-play digital release and the purchasable collector's box you see here. On audio is Jovanotti Must Die, a musician as old as 1989, still contributing to retro game projects, with rates as low as 'donations-only'

Drunk, robbed, with only neighbor Sandra willing to help unearth your stolen antiques across Paris.

If that sounds like your kind of weekend, Cowcat's point n' click/visual novel Demetrios should be the perfect accompaniment. Goofy OST, Jazzy Paris and assorted contributions by film/game composer-for-hire Alfredo Sirica included.
