    Hi,

My friends and I are indie developers and want to get some feedback on a working title for our next game:

"Climbing A Tree In 1978: A Pretentious Indie Game"

What do you think? What kind of images come to mind? We're looking for as many opinions as we can get. Thanks!

Stands out as you guys trying to piggyback off the success of Pretentious Game. So I'd automatically avoid it as I do with any game that has another game's name in the title.

I agree, "Climbing a Tree in 1978" is a pretty awesome title alone ;)

    Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. Seems most people are turned off by the subtitle, we'll kill it. It was mostly meant to poke fun at ourselves.

    Alternate Subtitles

Thanks. We're kicking around some other subtitles as well...

    "A lo-fi simulation"
    "An indie game simulation"

So one is referring to the simulation of climbing a tree and the other is simulating an indie game.

Why does it need the subtitle? I think the title is great alone and has some mystery to it - especially if it's a shmup or something. Haha.

    I agree. It's better without a subtitle.

'Climbing a tree in 1978' is actually quite intriguing and unique; and is already a rather long game title. Anything more in the title becomes a distraction and dilutes the original premise. I'm curious to see how both tree climbing and 1978 factors into the game.
