Hello, Toucharcade I am making the game called "Neko Jump Blitz" a cute cat swapping game. The gameplay is you touch a block to swap with the current block in the circle and line up three or more to score. The problem is my company is based in Thailand and there is a Thai pop girls band ,named "Neko Jump". ps. the girls is hot Would it be fine to contain music band name in my game name? What would you name this game? Every help will be appreciated. This is my game screenshot. Cheers, Decho
A trademark for a certain product, service, will not conflict with another products, service trademark as long as you do not make or offer same said product and or service. So as long as they don't make video games or someone else make games of them, you should be fine and run into no problems. Ps: please remove Facebook features in your game
On the other hand, is there also the potential "benefit" that people searching for the band may come across the app? I suspect if someone searches for "Neko Jump iTunes" on Google for eg, top of the searches will probably be results for the band and you may not find results for your app. Cheers,
I don't know what other people's experiences are on this, but i reckon it'll be difficult to compete (search results listings wise) with bands/songs in iTunes (music store, rather than app store) especially if a new/unknown dev/studio with a new app. When you guys search for an app, do you also tend to type in "itunes" in your search? I know i do... Cheers,
I always do because I know it will be the top hit. I actually google rather than looking in itunes. That will especially become true if they do make a band app or something.
Cute! Your art style is adorable! Swap Cats is better, but not cute enough for those cats if you ask me. Seems pretty close though. Swappy Cats, Swap 'Em Cats! I don't know, I should go get some sleep...
If you think you will have no legal problems I would definitely go with Neko Jump as the name recognition will be huge. I would use Neko Jump Catz
Yeah, personally i agree with this too - however, i'm not sure if "neko" has a specific meaning in Thai or not. As an English speaker, to me something like the above suggestion sounds more unique and distinctive. Lovely graphics by the way, good luck with your game!
Neko means cats in Japanese. I'm not entirely sure about legal problems so it's "Swap Cats" now. The game will be available in Thai store next week as a soft launch. Thank you for every suggestions. Cheers, Decho
