EDIT: Ok an admin decided change this thread title to quote it as my own. To be clear, this list bellow doesn't reflect my choices at all. For example I consider Cubbed Rally Racer as a total boring crap. I let it here because some other people disagree and think it worth it that's all. EDIT2: The thread title some moderator choose is so ridiculous, "Quordobo's 2010 (Unofficial) Buyers Guide addon", lol: Addon? Of what? Unofficial? So I create a thread and make it unofficial, so ridiculous. But nope that ridiculous title isn't my own but more probably some moderator trying some manipulation. ************************ Anyway everybody agree the TA 2010 Buyers Guide is quite good but I wonder if users couldn't build an addon to this guide by adding some more categories and possibly some more games in some of the guide categories. Well I'm not the best positioned to launch such thread and I can only see a huge garbage coming if this is generating anything anyway. But well let try. So new version, in blue the (suggested) additions and in red last additions, alphabetic order for games lists. I also removed those that haven't been proposed by two different players to fully fit the new rule : Casual: Fastar! + Fruit Ninja + Robot Unicorn Attack + Spirit + Solipskier + Tilt to Live Action Platformer: Babylonian Twins Premium + Bounce On 2: Drallo's Demise + Dark Nebula - Episode Two + Hook Worlds Puzzle Platformer: (To remove if there isn't enough very worthy quotes for such separate category) Retro: FINAL FANTASY + The Incident + Pix'n Love Rush + Secret of Mana + Vector Tanks EXTREME! Role Playing: Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD + CHAOS RINGS + Infinity Blade + Puzzle Quest 2 Point & Click Adventure: Broken Sword 2 + Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge + Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Hidden Objects & Puzzle Adventure: Tower Defense: iBomber Defense + Lord of the Rings Middle-Earth Defense (only the iPad version) + Monster Feed + Plants vs Zombies + Sentinel 3: Homeworld + Three Kingdoms TD Legend of Shu Strategy: Osmos + Sword & Poker Sim: Galaxy on Fire 2 + Game Dev Story + Warpgate Action/Arcade: Chopper 2 + Dodonpachi Resurrection + Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars + LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 + R-Type + Space Miner: Space Ore Bust + Spiderman Total Mayhem + STREET FIGHTER IV Dual Stick Shooters: First Person Shooter/Rail Shooter: Archetype + Modern Combat 2 + RAGE Racing: Cubed Rally Racer + NFS Hot Pursuit + Real Racing 2 + Reckless Racing Puzzle: Cut the Rope + Helsing's Fire + Trainyard + Zen Bound® 2 Universal Board: Carcassonne + Neuroshima Hex + Small World for IPad (iPad only) + Through the Desert Sports: FIFA 2011 + Football Manager 2011 + MADDEN NFL 11 by EA SPORTS + Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 + X2 Snowboarding + X2 Soccer 10/11 Match 3 based: Piyo Blocks 2 Brick Breaker: Odds and Ends: Godville + Sketch Nation Shooter
The current list of games suggested by a player but only one. When the rule is that a game needs two backup to be added in the list: Point & Click Adventure: Dracula the Path of the Dragon + Hector Badge of Carnage + Puzzle Agent + Scarlett & the Spark of Life + The Secret of Grisly Manor Hidden Objects & Puzzle Adventure: The 7th Guest RPG: Dungeon Hunter 2 + 100 Rogues + Avalon + Solomon's Boneyard Sports: Let's Golf! 2 + Flick Golf + Bonecruncher Soccer + Baseball Superstars 2011 Tower Defense: iBomber Defense + Lord of the Rings Middle-Earth Defense (only the iPad version) + Monster Feed + Three Kingdoms TD Legend of Shu Brick Breaker: Brickadelic (iPad only) + Circuloid (iPad only) + COCOnoid + Enchanted Forest + Ricochet Infinity Board: Reiner Knizia's Labyrinth Puzzle: BlocksMania + Fragger + Psychoban Racing: Chalkboard Stunts + Doodle Kart + Uber Racer Sandstorm FPS/Rail Shooter: NOVA 2 Arcade/Action: Samurai 2 Vengeance + Knight's Rush Strategy: Highborne + SteamBirds + Dark Lords Odds and End: Dungeon Defenders: First Wave + Sword & Poker 2 + They Need To Be Fed
Well, a point would be to add some more categories. Myself I wish there was those: Tower Defense Point and Click Adventure games. Hidden Object and Puzzles adventure games. Dual Stick Shooters. Match 3 based. Puzzle Platformers in a separate category. Puzzle separated from Board. Sim separated from Strategie. Shooters separated from Action/Arcade For now I don't see much more.
Ok, not sure how I should make it works but for now I'll used a document to summarize suggestions and will update first thread for quoting the current state only sometimes.
The addition of new categories suggested will bring few changes to the original TA 2010 Buyers Guide. Here the current state: Casual: Fruit Ninja + Robot Unicorn Attack + Tilt to Live + Solipskier + Fastar! Action Platformer: Bounce On 2: Drallo's Demise + Dark Nebula - Episode Two + Babylonian Twins Premium + Hook Worlds (Dark Nebula is a bit at the edge of this category because it has only one plane. But technically it has some platforms and it suits well the spirit of Platformers anyway) Puzzle Platformer: (To remove if there isn't enough very worthy quotes for such separate category) Retro: Pix'n Love Rush + The Incident + Vector Tanks EXTREME! + FINAL FANTASY + Secret of Mana (I feel Secret of Mana would fit better the RPG category, but I wonder. It is fine here but well, it's not as old than FF1&2) Role Playing: Infinity Blade + Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD + CHAOS RINGS Point & Click Adventure: Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge Hidden Objects & Puzzle Adventure: Tower Defense: Plants vs Zombies Strategy: Sword & Poker + Osmos Sim: Warpgate + Game Dev Story (Warpgate is a complicated affair, for me it would fit better the RPG category, but it's also a sort of imaginary sim, for now it is ok here) Action/Arcade: STREET FIGHTER IV + Chopper 2 + Dodonpachi Resurrection + Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars + Space Miner: Space Ore Bust + LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 Dual Stick Shooters: First Person Shooter: Archetype Racing: Real Racing 2 + Cubed Rally Racer + Reckless Racing (For me if I would not have select some, for Cubed Rally Racer it's even I don't understand what it does here, but it's perhaps the iPad version that has awful controls and they waste all my fun making me unable to enjoy other qualities) Puzzle: Trainyard + Zen Bound® 2 Universal + Helsing's Fire Board: Carcassonne Sports: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 + MADDEN NFL 11 by EA SPORTS™ + X2 Soccer 10/11 + X2 Snowboarding Match 3 based: Brick Breaker: Odds and Ends: Sketch Nation Shooter + Godville
Ok just for training a little summarize of the additions I added the few suggestions from the few posts that seems good one even if I know nothing of those games. It's fine to argue here about the validity of any addition. And I add some of my own suggestions in some of the new genres suggested. So the new additions not including those of TA Buying Guide, alphabetic order: Brick Breakers: Brickadelic (iPad only) + Circuloid (iPad only) + COCOnoid + Enchanted Forest + Ricochet Infinity First Person Shooter: Modern Combat 2 Sports: Football Manager 2011 + FIFA 11 Tower Defense: AutoRobot TD + Bloons TD 4 + Dungeon Defenders + iBomber Defense + Lord of the Rings Middle-Earth Defense (only iPad version) + Monster Feed + Plants vs Zombies + Sentinel 3: Homeworld + Three Kingdoms TD Legend of Shu (yeah a lot but huge TD year even if not very quoted in sites) EDIT: Ha forgot Galaxy On Fire 2, well I wonder where put it, again in Sim or RPG?
Well TA 2010 Buyers Guide already includes Trainyard and Zen Bound® 2. But Broken Sword 2 seems a quite good pick for Point & Click Adventure.
It's not about GOTY and selecting the winner of the year in different categories, it's about a selection for a year release in different categories. So yes this other thread title seems cover a close subject but the topic described in OP is deeply different.
Well some more, in fact more suggestion than anything else because I don't feel have the experience in those genres, anyway as TA Forums users seem quite lazy or scary : Point & Click Adventure: Dracula the Path of the Dragon Board: Reiner Knizia's Labyrinth Hidden Objects & Puzzle Adventure: The 7th Guest Also the Tower Defense category I suggested is a bit big so: Dungeon Defenders: It is too special so I think Odds and Ends is a better place. I'll remove: Bloons TD + AutoRobot TD as soon as it's only me that add them in the list. This could be a temporary remove.
Like I said in the other thread: X2 Soccer, Warpgate, and Archtype should be replaced with FIFA 11, Galaxy on Fire 2, and Modern Combat 2.
Add-on ??? Haha I know TA writers are laughing now. You went and bash thier list and instead of making your own original list , your just adding to list. Your a joke , be a man a make your own list not an Add-on. Hahaha your very silly.
Lol. Good point. If their list only requires minor tweaks and some "add-ons", it wasn't that bad to begin with. The only thing that kind-of almost bothers me about Touch Arcade's selection are the 3 games I listed above. However, I don't see it as that big of a deal. If they honestly think Warpgate is better than Galaxy on Fire 2, that's their prerogative.
I already added those you suggested. About removing, currently it's not really about selecting the best in each genre, the point is are they very worthy or not? I don't know much those genres, sure I tried Warpgate and Archtype and didn't found them appealing but I didn't really played them. About removing if we go here, I'm looking to remove Cubed Rally Racer, certainly not because of the graphic style but because I played many similar, Reckless Racing, LilRacerZ, Horror Racing, and few other, and none had such awful controls making Cubed Rally Racer very unpleasant to play. Still about removing, if it's only me involved, I'll also remove Chaos Ring, Zen Bound 2, The Incident, Pix'n Love Rush. @maxxx: Grow up kid.
Yes it wasn't that bad, the wrong categories for some is a detail even if weird, you could argue for some selected but apart for very few it's difficult to argue much. It's just about missing categories, and the point is to complete it with some big holes.
