    Hey guys,

I'm doing some research for my next game and i'm considering a shooter. Now I dont wan't to make an FPS styled I want it to be 3rd person, 3D but reduce the complexity of firing to a minimum for touch devices. I also have decided against dual stick controls and want more of a swipe and move mechanic.

Can people recommend me some good games to play, current or from yesteryear that really go well at creating an involving experience, a simple shooting mechanic or have a theme that work well. Here's what i've checked out so far.

Also I want to go free on the game and try to make money from freemium / pay for upgrades or items.

Tiny Troopers 1+2 (love this game)

    Gun Bros 2
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/gun-bros-2/id574931618?mt=8

    minigore 2
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/minigore-2-zombies/id576939960?mt=8

Any other recent shooting games that feel casual, were released for free and actually did well in the charts?

(Moved this to general as its not about a new game)

Disappointed that you're going straight to freemium. Gun Bros on paper looks great and plays well but i found it boring arena after arena and being freemium put me off it.

Tiny Troopers i must admit i really liked. I love dual stick games and prefer that control system but the way this game worked with its controls was perfect.

I have quite a lot of experience in the freemium space and although it can suck I don't believe it must suck. I want more people to play my game and I want to create an interesting experience but build it around a levelling up / progression system.

I'm most interested in finding examples of games that have done this without sucking. The last thing I want to do is charge you 7 dollars for a gun!

Thanks for moving it, I don't post too often.

Since you are going freemium, i suggest going for an IAP model like Trial By Survival. It's a fantastic dual stick shooter, but you can always change that in your game.

For other suggestions for top-down shooter type games, how about Bastion's ranged combat system?
