Hopefully this one will be just as clever - it certainly looks nice. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,064 1,340 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #4 metalcasket, Jan 29, 2016 Last edited: Jan 29, 2016 Those screenshots are just bits and pieces of different levels put together. I picked it up yesterday and it really is quite good, it's just a tad bit safe. I mean safe as an overall package, but having finished the first 1 and a half worlds, there's some really clever level design and it's stupidly recommended for a dollar. There's absolutely no reason this shouldn't be in the $2.99 to $4.99 range, but this is the App Store for ya. There's no shifting to be done, but in the first world a "flip the world the world upside-down" mechanic is introduced, and the second world employs a Gravity Guy-like mechanic. It's all quite seamless in implementation, but I can't help feel like it could be more...daring. Then again, In Between does make everything else in the genre seem a little safe. coolpepper43 ð® Spam Police ð Aug 31, 2012 4,615 7 38 On the toilet #5 coolpepper43, Jan 29, 2016 Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2016 Lol, yep, In Between was awesome. I don't think I'll ever delete it. Also, the app description here mentions being able to manipulate spaces. Maybe you can actually move the levels around in later stages. I'll have to keep at it. yorrick Well-Known Member Oct 29, 2009 271 0 16 Sydney, Australia #7 yorrick, Jan 29, 2016 I am trying to locate "In Between" on itunes and can't find it. Agree with the game leverages the mechanics of Shift. To the developer's credit, the puzzles are very well designed and quite clever. So far, totally enjoying it and found it to be a surprisingly competent puzzle game. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,064 1,340 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #9 metalcasket, Jan 29, 2016 Absolutely. That's the one. TheGreatEscaper Well-Known Member Oct 10, 2014 1,025 22 38 #10 TheGreatEscaper, Jan 30, 2016 Wow, nearly everyone in this thread are fans of In Between! That game was great. Picking this one up now, but after playing The Witness on PC, I don't think I'll every truly be gobsmacked by a puzzle game. The Witness is going to head to iOS in a year or so and I would highly recommend getting it then (if you haven't got it on PC yet). Also MC, the 'shift' mechanic is the turning the world upside down and your character going into the negative space. It's an old game from a while back, I think there were 4 in the series. I'm interested in seeing how this game will develop the mechanic. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,046 623 113 #11 anthony78, Jan 30, 2016 Oh hell, you guys are talking me into another game....because I don't have a few hundred to play already. What an amazingly clever puzzle game! So many deviously difficult logic puzzles, all done without any hand holding of the players. Level of sophistication of the puzzles rivals that of the puzzles in Antichamber. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,064 1,340 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #14 metalcasket, Jan 30, 2016 Oh man, I knew something was off. I was assuming Shift was...ehhhh, does anyone remember the name of that game with a stick figure-like character, and you had to swipe different pieces of the level into the right place to make him get keys, find the exit, etc? It definitely stared with a "C" and it was the sequel to a game that wasn't even on the App Store. Had white backgrounds, everything else was in black, with very few colors. Basically the Lost Journey screenshots on the App Store remind me of that as shit looks like you can move platforms. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ cloudpuff Well-Known Member Sep 12, 2013 3,600 0 36 lazy layabout uk #15 cloudpuff, Jan 30, 2016 Last edited by a moderator: Jan 30, 2016 I know this isn't the one you were thinking of, but it's the same mechanic I think, my daughter loves this type, so thought would mention it. Want to leave a note there so others can find this gem of a puzzle platformer. Puzzles are quite clever, particularly the last levels. The full extent of how clever the mechanics (especially the combo effect of crate and butterfly) are in this game do not surface until the last world. Have patience while experimenting... Able to solve a few levels without using all of the powers given in the levels. Unsure if I found alternative solutions (level design oversights) or if this was a deliberate choice by developers to make levels solvable in different ways. Narrative is a sad tale.
