There are a lot of hidden object games out there - none more popular than Wheres Waldo - many more than I would ever expect. How do you sort the app from the crap though? What makes a good hidden object game? Is it the difficulty? Is it the art? Do people actually play hidden object games?
Can't help but wonder by your sig if you are conducting some sort of research or survey of some sort?
I love hidden object games and have many, both for the iPod Touch and for the Mac. Certainly for the Touch, the graphics are very important especially when you zoom in for more detail.
I have many favorites but the Mystery Case Files games are very good. Also, The Stone of Destiny, Little Shop of Treasures, Everest, Sprill, Cooking Quest, and Cassandra's Journey are also great fun.
I think Where's Waldo is so popular is because of the backgrounds. They are just so much fun to look at! It's not just a picture, there is like all kinds of crazy stuff going on lol, thats why it's my favorite.
Yeah, Waldo is also a part of many of our pasts... we all remember the books from when we were younger. Its amazing how technology can take something old and make it new again!
The Waldo books were fun, but the app totally sucks in my opinion. So many mistakes made with that thing.
I have not tried Treasures of Mystery Island yet. I am hoping for a price reduction. Have you tried it? Is it good?
Well, its a brand new release but its got some pretty unique things for a hidden objects game - you actually jump from level to level and use the things you find from one level in the others. There are also a bunch of mini games to give your eyes a rest from all the squinting and trying to find things. Cant wait for an iPad release!
