    Hunted Cow Studios and HexWar are proud to be launching World War II strategy game Tank Battle: East Front 1941 with their new partner The Lordz Game Studio, the developer of the award-winning Panzer Corps series.

    Tank Battle: East Front 1941 will on the App Store (universal iOS app) within the next few days for $1.99.

    Tank Battle: East Front 1941 unfolds on the Russian Front during the German invasion of 1941. Players fight on the side of the Soviets or the Germans in three campaigns: the seven-mission “First Strike” (Soviets), the eight-mission “Blitzkrieg” (Germans), and the eight-mission “Desperate Defense” (Soviets). Battles occur on winter and summer terrain and challenge players to make use first of obsolete equipment, such as the Panzer I and T-26, and then more advanced units as the war escalates. Missions involve wiping out enemy forces, capturing key points, and protecting vital supply convoys.

    Players can choose from 30 different German units and 14 Soviet units. Basic units include flamethrower infantry, heavy machine guns, riflemen, mortars, and supply dumps and trucks. Tank Battle: East Front 1941 employs Hunted Cow’s detailed Combat Analysis system to assist new and veteran players alike and features Game Center achievements and leaderboards.

    Tank Battle: East Front 1941 is a major upgrade of the game engine used for previous release Tank Battle: North Africa. Hunted Cow will release more missions in expansions Tank Battle: East Front 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945 in the coming weeks. The East Front series will include 145 different combat units from the humble BT-7 to the German giant Maus tank.

    What are the new features? It seems like Tank Battle:East Front 1941 is just using the Tank Battle: North Africa Engine...

    Caveat: I have only read through the help section and played a few tutorial missions.

    Also, what is up with veteran and elite both having the same symbol?

    New Game Features

    The whole combat system has been revised from Tank Battle: North Africa. You get a better idea by looking at the unit factors in help and by using the combat information option see the (i) on the screen. You can see all the combat differentials. Click the differential data to get an even more detailed description.

    Move and shoot has a lot of variations. In general Soviet units get more penalties than German units if they move and shoot.
    Hull down now works for units on hills against units no on hills.
    There are virtual hill crests depending how far a unit is across a series of hill hexes.
    Woods are cover for all units.
    Strategic movement has been added so units move faster if at least 4 from the enemy.
    Burning buildings block movement.
    Artillery can mount and dismount.
    Added hmg units, mortars, flames thrower infantry and flamethrower tanks, and rocket launchers.
    Entrenchments are now hex side based rather than hex based.

    And lots and lots of other new units.
