I think so. There is actually a board game called "Amber Road" with similar theme, but different mechanics (it seems to have no cards at all). So "Amber Route" should really be a "newly" developed title.

While I like the twist of terrains (bonus effects from a given card if you or your opponent is in a certain terrain), I'm not getting the point of the Escorts and Amber. Since the game is won by the first person making it to the end of the route, what purpose does the Escorts and Amber amounts serve? Can you eliminate your opponent if you knock away all of their Amber?
Answering one of my own questions, it appears if you can ever bring your opponent to 0 amber they'll lose. Having your escorts reduced to 0 doesn't seem to mean a whole lot other than there are a couple cards that read to the effect, "If the escorts are already 0, lose x amber". So they act a little bit like Arcomage's walls, but only in a fairly indirect way since most cases where your escorts are reduced to less than 0 has no adverse effects.

Also VERY INTERESTING, which I somehow missed earlier, is that every terrain type has unique effects when you land on them (you gain supplies landing in a forest but have to discard several cards if moved into ruins). So while I initially thought it was just a matter of charging to the end of the route as quickly as possible, you might actually want to be wary of what spaces you land on.

Okay, maybe it's just me but I'm struggling to see the connection between this game and the Bloodshow games which are basically Plants vs. Zombies the card game.

Whoa, I'm amazed that not many people are excited about this game. I like the fact that you can win the game several ways: by taking away your opponent's amber, by killing /postponing her supplies /people, by getting to the finish line first etc.

The art is fantastic and the theme fits the game well. My first sleeper hit this year, cannot put it down.

My only beef is with its instability. It crashes after EVERY game I play on my ipad 1 -- which is not a biggie for me at his point while I only play the single game mode.

Devs, could you patch this?

Actually I have the same crashing issue on my iPod touch 4. I can't do the campaign because the game always crashes after the first game and doesn't save the progress. May be a memory issue but the game itself works fine and is great fun. Please fix.

Default Game Impressions

This game is a really nice surprise. I only tried the lite version yesterday and it left me very impressed. Graphically it is very polished and, in my opinion, quite pretty, music is good and. more importantly, the thematic aspect of the game is excellent, well-implemented in the gameplay. I tend to like this two towers games, but they feel very abstract (towers that grow and diminish when you play cards, huh?). Here, everything makes sense, from the currencies used, to the caravan theme, with each step on the road giving different buffs or debuffs depending on the nature of the terrain. Even better, there is a sens of purpose in the fact that it is not a race to be the highest tower, but a real race where you want to be the first. Interestingly, there are conditions for winning in the campaign so you'll have to manage your position in the race, but your stats as well.

If anyone played further than what the lite offers, I'd be very interested in knowing what they thought on the game in the long run.

It looks to me like Multiplayer is random matchmaking only?
