If it was possible to give 0 stars then 2.5 would be accurate.
In statistics it's called a median. Although for some reason I vaguely have the impression that it's acceptable to use average to refer to either mean, median or mode?

Lets not confuse the situation. Median is just the middle number, so the median of 2, ,7 , and 8 is 7. The average is usually assumed to be the mean, and that's what Apple's average star rating is. The mean of 1 and 5 is 3. An "average", centered between highest possible and lowest possible, rating in the AppStore is 3 stars.

Anyway, sorry to take this thread in a strange direction :P
It is a humorous chart.

I would like to give this thread a 2.5 star rating, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

Make 2 accounts. Rate the thread 4 stars and then 1 star.

^ What he said, but to defend myself, the median of two numbers is going to be the midpoint between the two numbers, in the case of 1 and 5 it will be 2.5.

But to add to the thread, does that actually happen at the bottom? 3 iOS versions down and the devs will try to remarket the app? (and have fun doing it?)
