It's a lot like Battleheart, only that this is turn based. A bite size tactical battle game. I find that a whole lot more manageable, but that's my preference. You start of by selecting a pair of fighters -- warriors (barbarian+paladin), monks or range (javelin thrower and alchemist), but as you battle and win, you get to recruit new fighters of other classes and sometimes higher level fighters than your own. Tactical decisions involve whether you should move quickly and be able to attack on the same round or sprint forward and forfeit being able to strike. All skills and attack have stamina costs. So you might use a powerful high damage skill but that might mean you won't be able to act for a turn or two after that due to lack of stamina. Friendly fire is also possible, so need to be careful doing that whirlwind with your barbarian if you have allies by his side. There's also loot to collect, skills to unlock and upgrade. One point on the map contains several different types of battles to choose from -- easy ones like 2 vs 1 to 3 vs 3's. It's not just vs battles, seems like there are other battle modes. There's a "Battle of Flags" where the purpose is to destroy your opponents flag while protecting your own since the other side is trying to do the same thing. There is also "wave" battle mode. So that should keep things from getting too routine. The only thing that seemed a bit strange at the moment is that icon is not showing up in the store, but it does show up on my device after a restart. The issues I have are that some of the enemies look just like your players which gives the game a generic feel. Equipping items does not change the look of the character, not a huge deal but with so many characters looking the same, this would help in telling who is who. The other is no matter what side my character attacks from the attack comes from the left. This ends up being odd when you have someone surrounded and an attack from one of you characters seems to come from another. ojtitus Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2010 3,228 5 38 Male Canton, Ohio #9 ojtitus, Apr 26, 2011 I've spent a little bit of time with the lite version and really enjoy the game so far, I only wish you could replay missions. strivemind Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2010 2,784 2 38 Designer Ottawa, Canada http://www.strivemind.com/ #10 strivemind, Apr 26, 2011 Tried the Lite, and it's pretty decent. Ravenblack Well-Known Member Feb 24, 2009 1,755 0 0 Singapore #17 Ravenblack, Apr 27, 2011 I would like to be able to repeat levels also. But it does seem like there are easy battles included in each location. If repeating levels might unbalance the game, perhaps just make one level repeatable per location on the map. Enemies do look too much like allies. The only difference is that the health/stamina bar is on the left for your units, and on the right side for the enemy units. Perhaps there could be an option for a color spot on the top forward facing corner of the unit to make things more obvious. Marcus70 Well-Known Member Dec 7, 2010 950 0 0 #18 Marcus70, Apr 27, 2011 I'm enjoying game a lot and really like the art style. For me the only thing about the graphics is sometimes difficult to see which status icon (stun, poisoned, etc) is next to the character on the ipod (playing on the ipad 2x mode that is not an issue). So the changes in difficulty do make it a bit more challenging. So, for example, instead of fighting an enemy at level 2 (on easy) the enemy starts at level 5 (on hard). lukeshep17 Well-Known Member Dec 23, 2009 104 0 0 #19 lukeshep17, Apr 27, 2011 This game is awesome. downloaded it yesterday and am on act 3. Played for hours can't put it down. If there is demand for it though, I could make it so one can replay battles but just not receive exp / items. I think I will try to fix that in the first update. Right now your warriors generally have some part of them color blue and enemies, except for animals, something colored red. But I think one of the problems maybe be that the part of barbarians that is colored is much too small. I just wonder if fixing just the barbarians is enough. Edit: Also, apologies on the missing icon. I contacted Apple and they are working on it. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
