Paladog! (Update: v3.0 - new content)

Good people of Touch Arcade, I require thine help.
I have tried for hours and hours to beat Level 18 of Darkdog (Rocking Horse) on Hard Mode, with various strategies. The best so far seems to be using two amulets of mana regeneration and spam dark sword at the rocking horse in regular intervals, since each hit seems to freeze the horse for a brief moment, and seems therefore a better option than using something stronger like the fire sword or lightning hammer. I use the food on hawks, since other units seem pointless, as the horse's mows them down. Despite all this, I cannot beat this level. I have come very close, with the horse's life bar almost empty, but he always reaches the finish line. The main problem is the living armors he starts to summon after a while, they are ridiculously strong! I just have to let them pass without fighting them, or I'm dead for sure.
Any tips?

Anyone still play this game? I just grab my Line version and replaying survival mode. Wondering if there's anyone I can still talk to
