This application is a result of that idea and work. Many familiar elements have been taken from the Dragons Dream paintings; landscapes from Arches Morning, 1st April, Birdsong, Morning Dragon, Elbow Rock and Sea of Light all come together to create two new worlds - Oceanic Arches and Forest of Mist.We wanted to bring the world of Dragons Dream to life in two ways. Firstly, by using the Dragons Dream visualizer and follow the Dragon’s path as he meanders his way around the panoramic dreamscapes.Secondly, for those with a more adventurous nature we wanted you to take on the role of the Dragon and play the Arcade or Free Fly games, collecting the magical orbs and unlocking six pieces of artwork from the Dragons Dream collection. As an exclusive bonus, Dragons Dream players can also unlock a painting that no one else has seen from my collection, ‘Blind Owl’, making this application an essential element of my artwork portfolio. The Dragons Dream application also includes an original soundtrack that has been produced specifically with the Dragons Dream artwork in mind.Have fun! I've been playing this on a promo code for about a week and it is a brilliant game. The overall feel of polish and class is very high. I know this isn't priced at tier one, but if you look at what Roger Dean's artwork and wallpapers are selling for then this is pretty much a bargain. Recommended by me, very highly, if that's worth anything to anyone. slamraman Well-Known Member Patreon Gold Aug 27, 2011 2,511 5 36 #5 slamraman, Nov 18, 2012 Downloading now. I just watched his homepage and was surprised how many covers he made that i'm aware of (Yes, Uriah Heep, Rare Earth...) Some of the LP's i still own and play. There is a video on his page that shows a bit of gameplay. Is it just flying and catch the orbs for highscore, or is there also some fighting/fire-spitting against enemies involved ? K.D! One mode is collect as many orbs in 2 minutes as you can and the other is fly until you die. I'm not too far in though but unlocks so far are pieces pf art and new levels based on pieces of art. bramblett05 Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2012 5,682 0 0 #10 bramblett05, Nov 18, 2012 I think its a visual fest rather then a game . Considering that Roger Dean - in the app store description - sees this app primarily as an extension of his art portfolio, and a game second, they've put together a damn good game as the secondary aspect of the app! I love the control of the dragon and the way if feels convincingly heavy in response to the taps. Once you get used to it, flying it becomes easier and easier. bigrand1 Well-Known Member Apr 23, 2010 4,968 6 38 Geriatric Party Animal California, USA #15 bigrand1, Nov 18, 2012 Saw this in the new releases and noticed the name Roger Dean. I'm thinking, THE Roger Dean? Wow, this is big-time, kiddies! This artist has been around for many years, is very famous, and has done things that for some of you, your parents will be more familiar with than you. Yeah, he's done some art for several video games, etc. but is probably best known for his work on album covers and posters for a band called Yes and also Asia. The incredible floating islands are so memorable. Tripped-out fantasy worlds. Guaranteed if you ask your dad about it he'll remember that artwork. Dean also designed the Yes logo that they've used ever since. Great classic rock, I might add! For me, (and I haven't seen this app in action yet), it's gotta be a treat to fly around in his art world, seeing what he's done. Looking forward to checking this out! The music also is a highlight. To me, holy cow, every cent worth it ! Planetshooter Well-Known Member Jun 3, 2010 561 2 18 UK http://arcadelife.co.uk #18 Planetshooter, Nov 20, 2012 That depends how much you play it. It's well worth the price as far as I'm concerned. I'm quite shocked that I am still top of all 4 leaderboards. Maybe all the people buying it are just fans of the artist and not hardcore gamers! That's a joke, by the way, just in case the concept is unfamiliar to anyone. september Well-Known Member Sep 14, 2012 2,673 0 0 #19 september, Nov 21, 2012 Game looks fairly average but do not care in this case, grew up on his unique art and more than happy to make the drop. september Well-Known Member Sep 14, 2012 2,673 0 0 #20 september, Nov 21, 2012 Even as a fan it's hard to find much to like past the artwork sadly, it's fine but for the cost you could do better. The death flash is super annoying and a little lazy as a solution. Framerate is steady but choppy and needs to be higher. Doesn't really seem to be much in the way of progression apart from last longer or collecting more orbs. Contrast is a bit muddy. Lack of polish touches like floating land masses that have water running down them but they're static. Those bugs that fly over the screen, they feel like they're on the same level as the dragon, no blur or saturation difference. Still, I bought this not expecting much and there are some nice touches past the artwork like the sounds. It's not bad, just not my thing and a bit shallow, but I probably would have bought it regardless. Only for fans at this price to be honest. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
