So when you make a game do you have it on Facebook Apple servers so security is quite good from hackers?

    facebook apple servers.. riiiight..

and of course the answere is NO..

if you earn 100 million dollar you need to spend at least 99million on hacker prevention systems

i suppose some security like this http://www.mig.ru/en.html would solve your imaginary problems.. big bad russian guys.. they can even help you if you lend little jimmy your lunch money and he won't pay it back.. so will help you on both sides of the fence

What kind of security are you talking about?

Apple handles the transactions so that you don't have to worry about fraud or chargebacks on the payment side.

In regards to your game details, once it's been installed on a device, anyone can pretty much do anything with it by reverse engineering, etc. They'll even start posting your game for free on other sites for jailbroken phones.

Not sure what you mean by Facebook Apple servers as well since they're independent and separate companies...

Well for stats for players competing etc you need to have your own servers right?

If you use Game Center to store scores/achievements, they are stored in Apple's servers.

    Ok thanks

so why do people hire staff to program games etc. if they can just outsource and use Gamecentre?

I do have a legitimate question along these lines actually...

Can those with jailbroken devices hack IAPs/Virtual Currency in apps? If so, is this a common occurrence?

Is there a way to avoid this? Perhaps by using services like Tapjoy as a host for your virtual goods or something?

I ask because we are looking to tie a charity into our next game to push the message of "gaming for the greater good." Currency earned in the game or purchased could be used to buy sponsored items that would result in donations to the charity. If that's how we decide to implement it, hacking virtual currency could become an issue...
