I think tel meant this game: [hqyoutube]VhNOo8pxI1c[/hqyoutube] According to this article, dated June 12th, 2009, its still in early development phase. In fact, the game is not even listed on Freeverse's list of games (which should list a game even if its still upcoming, e.g. Thor and Legion of Amon).
iPhone Launch Party, Freeverse announced several upcoming games they have been developing for the iPhone and iPod touch: Warpack Grunts and Warp Gate stood out. Warpack has been released and I found a web site that said Warp gate was to be released at the end of June. The game is described as a 3d space exploration / shooter / trading game that seems similar to Escape Velocity with a fully 3D engine.
We are busy at work on Warpgate and Flick Baseball. Warpgate is nearing the final stages of development, but as they say, the last 10% can be 90% of the work. Right now we are paying careful attention to control, ensuring the controls are intuitive and easy to use. I'll get some screenshots together so you can see how things are going.
This looks somewhat similar to Star Trek Armada. I wonder will you be able to build stations and shipyards? I've been looking for a game like this. It looks great.
My all time favorite game, well series of games, is the Escape Velocity series. This appers to be very similiar to it. Obviously, it has the graphical style of EVE Online and other newer 3D space games... but as it is described in the article: this appears to be more in line with Escape Velocity - which is awesome. I've often wondered A) When a game like this was going to be developed for the iDevice and B) Why the hell Amrbosia (original devs for EV) isn't making at least a port of the original EV, or new one optimized for the iDevice...
Im well looking forward to this games eventual release. Have you any more news as to when that maybe? Infact any news would be great cheers
Well I'm excited to hear that someone is carrying the torch to the iDevice, and it is all the better that it is a Mac-focused developer with strong history of great Mac, and more recently, iDevice games. I'm sure you will do it justice. Thanks. Put me down for one of the first copies...err... downloads. Just be warned, my expectations couldn't be higher...
Some more info on Warp Gate, from MacWorld. A little sparse... So it looks like the game has been pushed back a little... but thats not a biggie. I'm a little concerned w/ the part where you are allowed to purchase better ships w/ OS 3.0. Is this purchase as in spend real money? Or are they talking about money earned in the game? For a game that is suppossed to be released soon, it sure is hard finding info on it...
In case you don't check TA's front page... http://toucharcade.com/2009/07/11/followup-video-warp-gate-combat/ New video featuring combat... seems a bit clumsy... but I have faith.
I can't find any new information on this game... I google it daily - same sites always show up. Nothing on Freeverse's website or in their forums. Freeverse - if you happen to read this... could we at least get an expected release date.
I agree any news would be great. I've been checking daily too and found nothing, why all the secrecy about this game? I think maybe there's problems with the development maybe.
Well my constant google searching for any sort of info about this game finally paid off... Interview from PlanetiPhone.de: http://www.planetiphone.de/artikel/warpgateinterview/seite2.html
