Tuokio Inc. Well-Known Member Mar 9, 2011 346 0 0 http://www.tuokio.com #9 Tuokio Inc., Aug 4, 2011 Thanks! King of Opera will not likely go free in the near future but we're more content to the game. Blonde vs Brunette Racing (for iPad, iPhone version coming later this year) from us is a free game, AppStore link below: http://itunes.apple.com/app/blonde-vs-brunette-racing/id449136895 Tuokio Inc. Well-Known Member Mar 9, 2011 346 0 0 http://www.tuokio.com #10 Tuokio Inc., Aug 4, 2011 The developer point of view is that the goal for Raiding Company was to create a classic, Gauntlet-like, dual stick shooter with (somewhat) innovative single device local multiplayer for four players on iPad, two players on iPhone. We think that we succeeded in that goal and creating a new kind of experience compared to any other (iPad) dual stick shooter in AppStore. iPhone version with two-player multiplayer we're not 100% sure about yet, waiting to get feedback from players whether they like it or not. We're currently working on adding more twists to the gameplay (both single player and multiplayer), and welcome ideas and suggestions. Jouni caanerud Well-Known Member Mar 28, 2011 998 0 0 #11 caanerud, Aug 4, 2011 Pretty much this. Fun to play for a few minutes, though, and I applaud the dev for their take on 4 player simultaneous play. It's lacking the addiction-factor, though. Needs more character customization and upgrades. flameon Well-Known Member Jul 26, 2011 1,172 0 0 #12 flameon, Aug 4, 2011 and maybe a story mode. Tuokio Inc. Commenting on a few things on the below. >Could anyone sum up gameplay? We've game play videos on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/RaidingCompany >(waiting for King of Opera to go free or something) >King Of Opera went free not so long ago We're not planning to do "free for one day" campaigns in the near future, and we're likely going to increase the price of Raiding Company (Universal Build) later this fall. We've been doing the "free" campaigns as it's a) much faster (and kind of cheaper, timewise, time is a scarce resource at indie game dev cos) way for us to give a free trial than doing a "Lite" version and b) we want to reward people who're willing to take "risk" and try out games from a new developer. The hope has been that those people who will get the game free would be more willing to give us back feedback on our games, and especially feedback on the local multiplayer feature. Trying to do the local multiplayer well takes serious time and effort and we don't want to continue to sink our time on that if it's something that people don't want or like. Lastly, thank you for all your views, feedback on this thread and on AppStore. We decided that we'll not add features found on single player dual stick shooter games, rpg games etc. to Raiding Company. Those features just don't fit well to a classic arcade shooter, and to a local multiplayer game - we left the features which people would like to add to Raiding Co out by design, intentionally. However, the good news is that we'll do a new game with the features people would like to see in this type of game, and have those features as the starting point for game design. We're not sure whether or not we should just stop trying to do the local multiplayer games for iPad. Some people seem to absolutely love being able to play with their friends around a single iPad, or iPhone in some cases, especially the fans of King of Opera. We decided to do these types of games as we wanted to create new type of gaming experiences iPad and touch screen phones enable, and in the case of Raiding Co, to create a game that a more of a gamer type of guy would like play and so that he or she would be also able to get their "not so much of a gamer" friends to play with them around a single iOS device. Play a straight forward arcade shooter together and have fun with friends around the kitchen table, backseat of a car etc. The feedback that we get back is that bulk of the people prefer online gaming experience, to be able to develop and customize their character etc. all that jazz that you get in online games. Maybe we'll eventually find a happy ground between these two worlds, or just accept the fact the people don't want to socialize in a face to face setting anymore, it's all "Gone online!" : ) That's cool too, we just need to start doing games for that play setting. I thought the camera felt a little bit too close, so you didn't know what to shoot until they were right on you...and I didn't care for the little arrows as a substitute. There are a ton of options (free even) in this genre...thinking specifically of Catacombs and the Solomon's games. Tuokio Inc. The genre is competitive, like almost each and every games (or movie, music, book, comics..) genre. We picked the dual stick arcade shooter as the genre as we wanted to see if a four player iPad game for "gamer audience" using a classic game as the starting point would work. Gauntlet was a successful "single coin-op device" multiplayer game back in the days so we tried to recreate that experience on iPad. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #18 syntheticvoid, Aug 14, 2011 I actually like the game a bit more because of this... Not being able to see the enemies until they're close makes for some pretty hectic gameplay, which is ALWAYS nice in a Dual Stick shooter. =o) And with the multiplayer, this game has something different to offer...
