Hello people, we are about to release our next game(target submission date is end of April). I am wondering what price we should pitch this game at($0.99, $1.99, $2.99 etc.) I figured this forum might be a good place to ask the question since you guys are probably the experts. This is an indie game made by 2 people on their weekends. Here is a beta(very rough version) of the game: [hqyoutube]kQ6zP72TTdM[/hqyoutube] I appreciate all your comments and would like some idea of how much we should price this. The game is an aerial platformer with a variety of creatures and bosses, a whole bunch of weapon types, a story campaign as well as leaderboards + achievements via OpenFeint. The feedback from this forum will be taken into consideration as we approach the submission date... thank you for your time in reading this post, Developers of Beast Flyers!
This goes into "Upcoming game" Looks very good, maybe update the art of some buttons a little... I'd price it at 2.99
Make it freemium. One dollar for one minute of play. But you get 3 seconds a day for free. Naw one dollar 99 cents sounds like a good start price
i say go 1.99 and go from there. hard to put a price on it how many levels? dose it have leader boards, re playability? one thing is if you start at .99 hard to go up from there.. if you start high you can always go down if need be. chris.
Hi people, thanks for the very useful responses! With regard to the number of levels, there are a total of 15 missions for the main story as well as the usual survival mode and time attack modes. There are 5 bosses to research/unlock, 12 unique weapons total and about 20 achievements. All the modes support OpenFeint for leaderboards and achievements. I am willing to do a 1.99 price if it draws in more sales I guess and also given how competitive the app store is. What would you expect for a price of 2.99? Multiplayer? Over 60 missions? Also, is freemium an attractive option for you guys? My general feeling seems to be that most people in touch arcade are turned off my freemium games. Any thoughts? thanks! I would personally pick up the game for $1.99. Something about the 2.99 bracket makes me expect a HELL of a lot from the games. For example, last I checked Plants vs Zombies was 2.99? I would need more than just tons of features for a $2.99 game (which it sounds like you do have)... I would need a name or a brand I know and love (e.g. PopCap) as some kind of garuntee that I will get some high quality gaming time out of the app. </2 cents>
I would Go with the 1.99 Price It makes it seem like a good game that will be worth the money, but doesn't turn people away by being too expensive
$1.99 for start up sale, after 2 months, if it's not doing good, then adjust to 99 cents sale... after another 2 months, can set it to be free app for sure.
I would agree with £1.99 too, you could always add a multiplayer DLC to it later down the line or more content packs etc. Also, do you need any beta testers?
small target group Will never have a high impact on the mass market - but will surely find lovers because of its art style - as long as there are no severe bugs in gameplay. The one dollar border people will not be interested anyway. 2.99 will be the right choice.
Yes that does seem to be the general consensus I have gotten from this forum. Do you have any suggestions/ideas that might help the game have more mass appeal? We are a 2 person team doing this game on our weekends. We were trying to do something different but it does seem like it might be a little less appealing for a general audience? Thoughts? Your ideas will be greatly appreciated. thanks! Developer of Beast Flyers!
