Hello, some of you might know that AdWhirl has been shutdown a few days ago. We've used AdWhirl in most of our games and when the shutdown has been announced we started to build our own ad mediation service. Today, I'd like to introduce you to AdFlake - http://www.adflake.com. AdFlake provides free ad network mediation for iOS and Android apps including house ads and up-to-the-minute analytics. Right now we're supporting 14 ad networks, and we plan to add more ad networks and platforms (Windows Phone + Windows 8). Integrating AdFlake into your app on either Android or iOS is dead simple and can be done within minutes. If you're an AdWhirl user that's great, because you can migrate to AdFlake within minutes, just change a few lines in your delegate and you're good to go - you don't even have to change the SDK. AdFlake is also open source and everybody can start a pull-request with our repos on GitHub. Check out our "Developer Resources" for more information about the SDK integration, website usage and more: http://www.adflake.com/SDK If you've got any questions I'd love to answer them here! Best Regards, Manny http://www.made-apps.com Check out some screenshots of the AdFlake backend
I thought this was a joke at first due to the name AdFlake. Seemed like you were making fun of AdWhirl's name and calling them "flakes". I see though that this is actually a real thing and looks like it's pretty well done. BTW, the CSS on your page is messed up for <span class="platform platform-android">. It is showing the Apple icon instead of the Android icon in the comparison table where you show what ad networks are available.
lol, no we're dead serious about this We didn't even consider "flaking", we thought of snowflakes when we came up with the name. Glad you like it! And we've already added a new network (Android: AppBrain) and rolled out custom events for both iOS and Android. More information on custom events is available on our Wiki: https://github.com/MADEAPPS/AdFlake-Wiki/wiki/Custom-Events Thanks, it's fixed.
You know ads SUCK don't you? and people HATE them? and they SPOIL games? You should be making games and apps people like and are happy to pay for, rather than trying to leech money of gullible people by adding adverts all over the place that ppl accidently click on. really shoddy and shady businss practice dudes.!!
from a developers point of view free games are the easiest way to get downloaded and played. obviously the 3 keys ways to make money from them are, ads, IAP and premium version. All of which the consumer might not like, however developers need to make money to make games I think ads on free versions with paid versions with no ads seems a good compromise! Well placed ads don't spoil games. The same way ads don't ruin TV shows.
What does this add to the convo? You have the audacity to demand and demean these dev.s who are just folks tryin to help each other earn a living or at least something by discussing this openly amongst each other. A service for dev.s has shutdown, he is noting an alternative. Why do you have to come here and berate them?
Well, we don't think ads ruin games if they're used correctly and are well placed. Exactly, most consumers do not want to pay money for apps/games anymore especially as there are so many free apps available. Especially on the Android platform. So you have to choose between IAP and ads. Not every game concept works with IAP so your only choice left is ads if you want lots of people to actually play your game. Plus, you can offer to remove ads for a small fee.
