A few things to temper everyone's excitement:

BGG users are reporting a slew of instability, the game crashes regularly.

It is made by the same developer of Kingdom Builder (who also publish the physical version of both games) and I think anyone who has played KB understands that's not a good thing.

The interface is passable at best.


That said, it's still Alhambra so...

Nice, I too just finished the tutorial on my iPad 3 with 7.03 without incident (and here I was all ready to temporarily switch to German if need be).

The game seems pretty simple compared to something as nasty as Agricola, but it still looks like it might be a little tricky to wrap my brain around competent strategies as one has to balance building type, wall facing, currency type, and price with every turn.

I agree about complexity level. Agricola and Le Havre are honestly too much for me. I hate to admit it, but while I can certainly play them, it feels too much like work to me. This is a nice complexity in that the rule set is very simple, but there are some nice decision points to consider in every game. When I lose I understand why.

Kingdom Builder just got an update that adds retina graphics and 3 zoom levels.

Edit: Plus the update makes Kingdom Builder universal for iPad and iPhone

I love the concept of the extra non-player character (Dirk) in two player games. Dirk can never actually win or score points but has a way of screwing up scoring opportunities for the two real players. Heck, you can even give him buildings! While on the surface such a tactic sounds mad, if with your gifting Dirk has more of a building type than your opponent, your opponent can't score with those buildings.

Just like Kingdom Builder, while both fine titles with comprehensive tutorials, I don't believe there is any sort of in-game manual/help files. Wading through an entire tutorial can be a bit much if you really just want some quick reference information (like the different building collection point values).

When commissioning a building in the desert, don't expect the architects to give you change.
