I'm not really understanding how to outrun the wave. If I just hold my finger on the screen the whole time, I can get as far as 187m. I got a little bit past there as my best score, but usually when I try to do anything really different, I fail badly. Also, the in-game recording doesn't seem to work very well. I got one extremely short video, but any longer ones got all messed up, despite having 3.3gb of space on my iPhone. Here's another video where I got a bit of a higher score by staying lower: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel It seems to require smaller taps to keep you steady as opposed to the long holds for flips in Alto. orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 1,997 145 63 #9 orangecan, Apr 7, 2016 So far I think it's ok but nothing to write home about. It seems very shallow and simplistic, there doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade path and I can't see much difference in my character after going up a few levels. The controls are very good and it's nicely presented but for me at least it lacks the variety and longevity that Altos had. I might be missing something as I've only put about half an hour into it but at the moment I can't help but feel slightly disappointed. touchy85 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2015 1,616 1 38 #10 touchy85, Apr 7, 2016 Jumping slows you down, just keep touching the water. imdakine1 Well-Known Member Aug 23, 2011 1,229 22 38 #11 imdakine1, Apr 7, 2016 Although I'm not a fan of endless runners although I did enjoy Alto's Adventure (not sure what to call that game style)... Living in Santa Cruz, CA and frequenting Hawaii the surf culture and scene is in my blood. On the surface this seems interesting or I obviously like the theme... My only issues are it looks obviously more theme driven (surf) than actual surf simulation. I'll likely get this eventually but would love to see a true surf simulation as I could only imagine the sponsors that could get behind a realistic surf game! Progression seems very slow though, I've played quite a bit and am only level 4.... 1600 or so is my best right now. Nice visuals, good sound, not sure why this game isn't getting more hype? Finding it very very one dimensional and not exciting. It needs more tricks, a way to gain speed. Given the small play area it gets rlly cramped with little room for any maneuvers.
