In fact, I only discovered it after seeing a tweet about the devs subsequent release BulletnTunes. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Amazingly, the game has zoomed to the top my personal list of iOS STGs, joining games by Cave, Masayuki Ito, and Nekki Indie. The video above demonstrates two main reasons why: buttery smooth wireframe graphics and a fabulous soundtrack. Modeling of the world as a very small body, so that the view shifts dynamically as your ship rolls about the bodys center, is a nice touch. Not sure I can explain why, but the game is uncharacteristically (for a STG) relaxing to play. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel This video provides a clearer example of gameplay, showing all five of the available ships and providing excerpts from the first tracks of the three music sequences available in the main game; Ill note that it looks like it was played on an iPhone 4s based on the low framerate and 3:5 aspect ratio. The gameplay is fairly basic, with standard relative-touch movement and an always-on shot. There are no bombs, although one ships secondary action is a bullet-clearing sword. The main game has five stages that take 10 minutes to clear a straightforward affair given generous extends and three continues; 1CCing is a reasonable challenge. Theres also an EXTREME 3MIN score attack mode that ups the difficulty, with suicide bullets that normally help clear other enemies proving the titles surfing experience now just as focused on clearing one of your lives. The games screen rotation works better than anything Ive played. The playfield is in portrait orientation. Rotating the screen for landscape play results in the playfield being maintained (rotating and shrinking), with the additional screen area on each side being rendered to provide a more immersive and even preferable view one that benefits from the lack of the distracting translucency of games that similarly expand their views (e.g., Strania and ALLTYNEX Second). The boxes designated for your ships secondary actions provide effective landmarks to judge the limits of horizontal motion. Another thing that makes the rotation successful is that the playfield is close to 3:4. The cropping required for 3:5 and 9:16 portrait-oriented screens in turn work because the playfield is tilted, resulting in a trapezoidal effective area like Raystorm, Raycrisis, and Silpheed, as well as portions of Eschatos. Consequently, cropping only impacts the bottom part of the playfield. The only other option as seen on the title screen is for Game Center based Leaderboards and Achievements. Locally, only a single high score is recorded. Unfortunately the app is not universal. But then neither is BulletnTunes. If the latters apparent success and continuing development cause it to be made universal, maybe this app will also be, since the two clearly share code (music too). Last but certainly not least, the game is pure premium not an IAP in sight. buzzToronto Member May 11, 2016 15 0 1 #3 buzzToronto, May 25, 2016 Amazing Very relaxing to play. It really does shine. I love this game! You really need to try it. Would love to see more from this developer! 9x16 Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2015 137 0 0 EST/EDT #4 9x16, Jul 11, 2016 Heres another video showing 1) landscape mode on a 16:9 display, 2) the EXTREME 3MIN score attack mode, and 3) another cracking track: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel QUIZCAT GAMES third game will be a horizontal shooter whose name translates to Collapse of the Bullet Wall. Heres a prototype PV: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Release is targeted for September. Unsurprisingly, the perspective is slightly tweaked. Reuse of assets and their movement give it the same vibe as BulletnSurf. Not sure how I feel about the static backgrounds from BulletnTunes, but there I dont notice them unless Im actively looking. Based on the PVs HIGH-SCORE JAZZ track, what I can say is that the soundtrack is likely to be fantastic once again. If it does I'll be buying it immediately. Billy 9x16 Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2015 137 0 0 EST/EDT #6 9x16, Jul 11, 2016 Sure does. Didn't realize it's been an issue, apart from the initial release of Shooty Skies. LordShad0wz Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2014 4,286 1 38 #7 LordShad0wz, Jul 11, 2016 And bought. After playing this game needs way more attention. It has my stamp of approval. There's a ton of different fighters each with its own attack profile. My favorite so far is the sword. I absolutely love the art style and the intense combat. Such a well job done dev! As far as bull hells go this is top notch work! You've made a fan out of me. I left a nice 5 star review on the AppStore. Get this game people. Especially if you like Shoot'em ups or bullet hells. This does NOT disappoint! Billy (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
