I've been following ngmocos blog for days now waiting for news on star defense, and today they released an awesome trailer for it. Someone please link it I'm on my touch.
These prerendered trailers do nothing for me. They were cool 10-15 years ago but now they are pointless - they represent nothing of how the game is actually gonna be.
True, but it's still cool. I wonder how much this game will cost. ngmoco's pricing has been everywhere lately. Topple 2's intro price was 2.99, but now it's down to 1.99. I wonder what they'll set this at. It could be 4.99, or maybe 2.99 as intro price. But maybe they're scared it wont do too well like Topple 2, so maybe 1.99 first... Hmmm...
I agree. When I come across a trailer for a game on any other platform I find myself immediately skipping 2/3 - 3/4 through just to see if they show any gameplay footage. It's kind of a shame to see that creep into iPhone games.
They made a very impressive trailer for this game. I have a feeling it'll be priced 4.99 because of the graphics, sounds, etc. Then after about a week, lower to 3.99 or 2.99 then stop there. I don't think this game will go to 1.99 because it's quality looks better than Topple 2, Word Fu, Dropship, etc. from all the videos and stuff they're releasing. Can't wait for this game!
Cool! But what I REALLY would love to see is a TD game that has some kind of lightning or electricity weapon. The level shots do look promising. Especially the cube one.
You might think so, but a popular genre in such a massive game store is bound to contain many variations--and most of the ones I've tried have been fun and unique and well worth having them all. This looks like it may join them There's a surprising range of gameplay styles possible within the TD genre. The iPhone with its large touchscreen and portability is the PERFECT TD platform. If I add up ALL the TD games I have on mine, and imagine: would I pay that amount to have ONE game with all that variety? Absolutely. So even if I think if it as multiple modes/maps for a single "tower defense" game it's well worth it. (And they really DO have enough variety that they're not the same game by any means. Just like shooters are not all the same game.)
Is that a problem? Oh and I've got the best idea for a tower defense game. A game where you create your own level, your own towers, and the enemy units. Kinda like Little Big Planet, but tower defense.
