Hey guys and girls, I am new to iPhone development, and in February 2009, my friend from college and I started an iPhone game studio called FIPLAB. Today, we are ready to announce the details of our first game, CopterKid, which is due to be released in May 2009 (provided the approval process goes smoothly!). Since this is our first foray into iPhone/App development, or any development for that matter, we'd really appreciate any feedback and advice you have to offer us. Armed with just our love for games and innovative technology, we founded FIPLAB on the premise of creating simple, addictive, pick-up-and-play games - and if all goes well, we hope to continue doing just that! With CopterKid, the idea was to produce something fun for males, females, adults, kids and everyone in between. Cute characters, evil enemies, addictive gameplay, great layered 2D graphics, topped of with some amazing music. We mixed these key components up and after a bit of tinkering and a pinch of magic dust, CopterKid became a reality. Here's an initial screenshot for your liking! Check out the game website here: http://www.copterkid.com We have also decided to provide Promocodes to five random followers on each of our facebook and twitter pages on the day of our official launch on the App Store - thus, ten free promocodes in total! Simply join us on our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/CopterKid/92880355624 And our twitter page: http://twitter.com/fiplab To be honest, development has been hard work for us and also a huge learning curve to say the least. It has been great to see the birth of our game - an idea which may forever have remained a pipe dream had it not been for the unique opportunity that Apple provides to indie developers like ourselves. Hearing your comments will be extremely useful and we hope to keep you regularly updated with more screenshots and a video as we near completion of CopterKid. Cheers, Ani
I'd come up with a different way to describe your game than "addictive". It's becoming remarkably cliche. Case in point: http://appshopper.com/search/?search=addictive Results 1 to 20 of 1006 for "addictive" in All Categories
Good point Hodapp, what best describes our game is that it is easy to pick-up-and-play, you don't need to sit down and play for hours on end - do you think this is a better angle to take in terms of wording? http://appshopper.com/search/?cat=&set=titleDesc&search=%22pick-up-and-play%22
Thanks, read the full story here: http://www.copterkid.com Thanks a ton. Very encouraging tyleis. Will keep you updated. Thank you very much Simple and sleek is practically what we had envisioned and I'm glad you agree.
I'm guessing this is like a "candy coated" or overhauled version of those Helicopter flash games on the internet? If not, my apologies. But don't take it the wrong way, because this game looks very polished and I love the art direction of it.
Thanks! Yes, we don't want to cut corners on quality of design or gameplay, so we really did put our backs into it in terms of getting the designs and graphics to be of a very high standard. As for names, no, we haven't assigned them any. However, we have had ideas of having another contest prior to officially releasing the game where users like yourselves get to choose names, and we eventually select a winning name each for the boy and girl. Stay tuned Thanks a lot pressHOME, join us on twitter/facebook and we'll keep you updated! Definitely not taken the wrong way at all! We'd say it's a 'spin' on those more basic games, no pun intended. It's a whole new element of quirkiness, sleekness and overall fun, whilst not forgetting the key notion of simplicity. Pure pick-up-and-play awesomeness
