Default Adding controller/joypad support

Hi all,
let's say I want to add game controller compatibility to a game.
What would be a good controller to buy for testing? Is it worth it to add compatibility to "old" controllers like the iCade or the new iOS 7 standard could be enough?

Hey, this is a great question. I, too, would like to know the answer before deciding which controller to buy. Anybody?

Well i think the steelseries stratus joypad is the only mfi controller at the moment that works with ipads, the moga and logitech ones only work with iphones.
