    Hi TouchArcade,

We are hatchlight, a new dev in Dallas.

RLR is a game we made in two weeks. We plan to update RLR and release more 2-week games until we find an idea that people really get in to. If after awhile, these 2-week games suck or we find an idea that is worth putting more time on, we’ll change the gameplan. For now, check out RLR’s short teaser trailer:

We are super serious about staying in touch with anyone that gets into our games. We already have a few devblogs up, and if you are interested in our process we will be sharing in detail as we go. We also post web builds throughout the process (Unity) so that you can see for yourself how quickly things can shape up.

Hey guys, I'm with hatchlight as well.

I just want to expand on how we're extensively blogging our dev process, which will sometimes include posting early builds of our games.

For example, this post about RLR's alpaha build in Unity web player format:

    Any feedback is always welcome!

Our 2nd trailer is out. You can play an alpha of the game right now through trepid_jon's link above, or go download Act1 Chapter1 in the app store (free). Since it's an episodic game with a soft launch, for now we are keeping this thread going in Upcoming Games and will be updating it.

    Thank you for the feedback!

We agree, a tutorial of some kind is needed. So many people have told us they can't get past level 3. And with good reason, as it's the first level that forces you to figure out the core jumping mechanics.

Basically, you can hold to jump higher, same with double jump holding. So for the tall wall in level 3, you have to jump and hold to go as high as possible, and then double jump at the apex of the first jump, also holding the double jump. This double hold mechanic is prominent through Chapter 1 from then on.

We'll put out an update addressing the lack of tutorial, along with more chapter 1 levels and chapter 2.

    Thanks again for your comment!

Good stuff. I think its a nice fresh take on 1 touch runners even if a bit dizzying.

    Chapter 2 Preview

We submitted an update earlier this week with Chapter 2 of RLR. There's a lot of other content as well. It'll be out soon. Enjoy.

    Unofficial list:
    • Added Chapter 2 - 16 new levels set in the HIGH DESERT, 6 WEEKS AGO
    • New main character, THE GRIZZLE
    • CUTSCENES. Yes there is a story here.
    • New gameplay that expands on the previous chapter
    • Simple TUTORIAL helpers. We'll see how nuts we need to get with it (Level 3 included)
    • 6 new Chapter 1 levels, because why not?
    • Slo-mo, level skips, hats, weapons
    • A ton of social features such as an in-game blog
    • Bug Fixes! Of course BUG FIXES!

Once the update comes out, we would love to hear from anyone that had feedback for us before.
