Connection iphone to ipad

Fifa did this and it was a good idea, took some getting use to position of the controls since I couldn't feel them but it was nice. I'm wondering if it's possible to do it with multiple iphones. Could someone make a game like Legend of Zelda Four Swords where it's four players on the same screen with an iphone controlling each player?
