OK I thought it would be easier to make a topic then search through the app store randomly and the forum. Anyway im looking for a good platformer. Im thinking of Castle of Magic at the moment but are there other good ones, or hidden gems etc...
Castle of Magic Archibalds Adventure Bounce On Rolando 1 & 2 Toki Tori I've played all but CoM and Rolando 2. Archibalds has over 150 levels of good size and excellent quality. It's by far my favorite. It's not great in the graphics department though. Once you beat a level, there's no need to re-play it. Bounce On features nearly 50-60 levels. This game is, in my opinion, the most difficult to obtain all the 'medals' for each level. Some of the levels requre a decent amount of skill to pass as well. Rolando 1 is the most feature-rich game of the lot, sporting 40+ creatively designed levels and intuitive gameplay. If you're looking towards this, you should get R2 instead, as I hear it's a great sequel. Toki Tori is the best looking platformer of the lot (remember, I'm not comparing Com), it features some 80 levels including hard levels that are sure to make you think before you move. I would'nt call this game an adventure platformer though, more a puzzle game that challenges you to think before you move.
really? this is the 'list' you guys have put together?!?!?!?!?!? Ready? - Grokion Alien Abuse Alien Original Blade Of Betrayal Soosiz Pizza Boy Sonic 1, 2, and 4 Phoenix Spirit Ecco Babylon Twins Giana Sisters Nicky Boom Black Tie Adventures Hook Champ Aeropack iDroids Mania PlanetOne Plushed Gravbot Hoggy Shift Spybot Chronicles Frogatto Shadow Candy: Sugar Rush Yay, Bunny! Wicked Woods 9 Heist Cookie Quest T Raiders Grizzzly I know there's more... platformers are really starting to make their mark in the app store... But I THROUGHLY enjoyed EVERY app mentioned above... **edit** sorry for sounding like a douchebag... a lot of these apps weren't in the app store at the time of the last post... I thought it said 07-2010 not 07-2009...
that's funny... I was going to... but I didn't know if Hook Champ should have even gone on that list... I think of 'platformers' as a game with a d-pad (or left and right buttons...), and a jump button... doesn't NEED to have an attack button (Soosiz)... Hook Champ and Super QuickHook are both more... get through the level by swinging. I know they are 'officially' 'platformers' because they have platforms you need to reach in order to finish the stage... but I do not personally consider games like this 'platformers' oh... also... Rayman 2 Armado 2 pretty good 3D platformers... and if you're wanting some free retro platformers; Bob's Dream Croco Kong Amor: The Unicorn Keep
Wouldn't consider this a bump. If he started a new thread you'd probably cry, too. Thanks for the new list!
and usually it's because games are added EVERY day... if someone went searching for platformers in the forums here... and saw the list that was here and not updated since 2009... I think they'd be pretty upset... so in response... Why the hell do people get so upset when someone posts in a year old topic? (you can always unsubscribe from the topic...)
I simply love it when *beeep*s flame me for pointing out an obvious mistake of a poster. There are tons of newer threads, making a new one is also a lot better since there are no outdated informations.
