Okay, this community has grown HUGE, and I believe that a reputation system would separate the men from the boys. I dont want to waste my time reading a comment from a spammer, I would rather read a genuine intelligent post.

Allowing us to +/- 1 to a post would be great, and the person will gain a rank or something.

Its been asked for before, and probably will be again...

I second this proposal. I think it should be combined with my previous proposal: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=45211

I believe this will bring order, prosperity and wealth to this barren forums. With "Respect Points" (I took the liberty of naming it, no thanks are necessary) our forum could become a place thrumming with life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness.

What about people who don't understand constructive criticism? I'm pretty quick to point out the things I don't like, and people will probably rate me down for it, totally ignoring the fact I'm actually attempting to give some valuable feedback with my criticism.

Then there's the Lounge... it'd probably have to be turned off alltogether in there. One word against Halo and your rank will plummet so drastically you'll get booted off the internet and your ISP will send you a court order for being a dick.

Whoa slow down big boy. Don't go flaming all over the place. This is a wonderful idea and your statements are way outta line! Sorry but, until you get some anger management, - rep.

i'd rather have something that feels less like a popularity contest and more of a useful thing, like a "thank you" system you can see on other forums.

    + 25 reps :p

Any forum where you've seen it working well? (I dont really visit too many forums and the ones I do, dont have such system except a few with reps)

I've seen it on a few uhh *cough* torrent sites. The reason it works better is there's no negative option. You either leave it alone or you give thanks if the post is useful.

    x10Hosting and Nigihana.

On Nigihana, it displays something like "Thanked x times in x posts", so it is more of a seniority/how much have you contributed to the site kind of thing vs. how much have you helped/how much do people like you.

It looks like x10Hosting has replaced Thank Yous with Likes and Rep, though. Hmmm. I guess it wouldnt be so bad. I hope there's negative rep for certain people. That would be fun.

The Modmyi forums have this in place and being a member since 2008 I can say that it works quite well. its easily seen that the ones who have many "thanks" are the ones who contribute the most honest posts, rather than spam. The "Thanks" system is something that definitley should be heavily considered. Just my 2 cents.

I really don't like this idea unless we call it "street cred" and you gain territory and can fight rival gangs.;)

Bad idea. Rep sounds like something out of a High School. Seriously, the last thing we need is being giving out "rep points".
