    Dear TouchArcade audience,

We at Frag Games have nearly completed work on our first major title: The Sorcerer's Ring. We're very excited to see your reactions.

Being huge fans of dueling games -from old classics like Mike Tyson's KO Boxing to the current Infinity Blade series-we felt that we really wanted to see a game with a core focus on magical combat. We never ended up finding such a game, and so we set about making it.

Our Wizarding duels take quick reflexes and quick minds to master. Recognize enemy spells and swiftly draw the counterspell. Collect runes and rings that give you new abilities and better stats. Learn the secrets of the Island and of the mysterious Source. Defeat Primus Nex and claim the Sorcerer's Ring!

And after you've completed the single player, our multiplayer offers much tougher bosses in PvE, as well as a robust PvP mode to test your character and your skills against players around the world.

The search for the Ring begins in Mid November!

Learn more about our hero's journey from the introductory cinematic! Cheers to our team who created this entirely in-house, along with a voiceover from the talented Tim Simmons, and music/SFX by our friends at Aflatoon Studios.

Check out a very basic gameplay video here!

    The Nitty Gritty

Hi FragGames, this game looks very interesting!
I have a few VERY important questions though!

    1. Does this game REQUIRE an internet connection at all times just to play the Single Player campaign/mode?

    2. Is anything below iOS 6.0 supported?

  5. Shouldn't this thread be in the upcoming forum?

Thanks for your replies... looking for feedback!

    @Zeillusion and Rafy211:
Thanks guys! We've worked hard on this game and we're confident you'll find it plays as good as it looks.

We're in beta testing right now, so our release date is very close: still, if we think we can make it better before release, we'll definitely spend the extra time and resources.

We're really looking for some feedback. What do you guys think of this take on the dueling genre? Would it feel intuitive to you? What do you think of our model of drawing signs to cast elemental counterattacks and special abilities?

The first few elements you get will interact in this fashion: Water -> Fire -> Earth -> Lightning -> Water. You'll have to recognize what the enemy is about to cast and instantly counterattack. There's a LOT more to it than that, but this magical rock-paper-scissors is at the heart of our gameplay.

We're going to try and post a gameplay video of the near-finished build as soon as possible so you can get a look at our game in action.

We're excited to hear from you!

We are currently putting the finishing touches on our trailer (also our introductory cinematic) but in this case, we mean a gameplay video so you can get a "feel" for how the counter-based combat will work, if that makes sense.

Looks rare(meaning not much other games like it), I could always try something new if the PvE is good.

    Gameplay Video

    Gameplay Video:
    http://www.kamcord.com/v/jxq7wVPv4QC/

Hey all, we have a gameplay video up (at the link above)! It's short and unedited (and for some reason the act of recording it seems to cause a little bit of lag) but we still wanted to show the very, very basic RPS combat. I messed up a little, possibly because I knew I'd have an audience heh.

This was taken on a current Gen iPod touch, so the screen size is fairly small-despite that, the gestures work well enough.

Hope to hear your feedback, and we will be posting more videos as soon as we can!

I really like the concept of a duel game where you fire spells by drawing shapes. As you know, the difficulty hinges on how accurate you have to be in your drawings, and from the gameplay video it looks like the shapes can be pretty inaccurate. How do you scale up the difficulty? By making the drawings harder? By making the enemy cast quicker? I, for one, would love to try this game out!

Concept looks good and it works. You have some problems with the animations, hope you'll fix it once :)
    Good luck!

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

@ Funday Factory: it would be impossible to scale the difficulty with the complexity of the drawings, they would require a static amount of precision at any level. So instead, enemies scale by things like

    1) Having more hit points
    2) Doing more damage
    3) Taking a shorter time to cast, thus increasing the reflex requirements
    4) Special abilities, such as regen. Regen heals so much/round that unless you do major damage, you won't be able to win...until you hit him with one of your OWN special abilities (that you have to collect/equip...don't worry its not a premium only item ;) ) which sets him ablaze and not only does damage over time, but cancels regen.

The more advanced enemies have a host of special spells like this.

    @ Andre: thanks, man!

@ Mike: we have some optimizations to do on smaller devices, we will absolutely be smoothing out the animations. They run very smoothly on the iPad, which is where we'll get our next video from but for now we wanted to use the smaller device to prove that the gestures could be easily drawn on a small screen
