http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Cardinal+Quest+2/news.asp?c=56394 Excited for this. Couldn't figure out how to just post the trailer—hopefully it's ok to show the link to another site.
Sweeeeet! From the Pocket Gamer article: "The distinct areas are filled with dungeons and towns that you'll venture through, and they're all procedurally generated, giving way to plenty of replaying. Importantly, the structure of the levels typically give you a way to use the environment to your advantage. For example, rather than attacking demons and thieves head on, you may want to sneak around them through the bushes and launch an ambush."
A great video showing 20 something minutes of game play. CQ2 will be so epic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wivtqT3SexE I read on the dev blog that Kongregate is publishing it.
It's annoying how the commentators dont know anything. I think they havent researched CQ1, and like how they go "oh so i attack them when i get close to them" like they havent played any roguelike. Sounds like they only define roguelike as perma-death. The game itself looks very solid. Instabuying this on iPad.
Yeah totally agree. I couldn't watch the entire video because those guys were so out of touch. But the actual game play looked freakin awesome and has me stoked.
C'mon, everyone was new to roguelikes once! I'd bet most gamers have never played one. I only saw the light myself a couple of years back having played a roguelike-like and wanting to explore the origins of the genre. This looks SUPER cool. Psyched for CQ2 to come out! ^^
They may look better as game preview/review group if they know their games, the histories, the genres, and the major news. Here they just sound clueless and uninformed. Im sure a game will be new to them, but they could reference it with real info. They didnt have to know CQ1, but as a game review/preview group, they should at least know the basics of a roguelike since it's one of the most influential genres in history. That said, i agree, CQ2 looks impressive.
I think that's part of the attraction. If people want an informed gamer, they go to Totalbiscuit. If they want to watch someone struggle to play an advanced game they go to him. I think he's Jesse Cox right? Can't remember
You can play the demo on PC and Mac. http://cardinalquest2.com/ Edit: Just played through the demo with the thief. It was bunches of fun. Sneaking through bushes and attacking for extra bonus damage. Sweetness. The original 3 characters from the first are playable in the demo: Fighter, Thief, Mage. Definitely looking forward to release.
