The closest comparison is probably Elder Sign Omens. You have a leader (represented by two 8 sided dice) who is traveling about from one location on the map to another trying to find more survivors and food while holding off mutant rats and other crises. One interesting aspect is that your leader and each survivor you meet will have unique dice. They'll all be 8 sided, but the distribution of symbols is randomized. So when adding additional party members it becomes important to keep in mind the odds of various symbols being rollable (better not go over to those apartment buildings as I see I'll need a heart and eyeball symbol to defeat the rats there and none of my current characters can roll hearts reliably). The concept of food in this game is fascinating as well. It powers re-rolls, is needed for your party to survive even if not using it intentionally for re-rolls, and is really handy for your HQ's recruitment efforts. So a big part of the game is all about managing your food needs and knowing when you can safely afford to attempt a re-roll or when it's best to just hoard it (basically when rolling the dice if a food symbol ever comes up, your party loses a food ration, and if that result comes up when you're out of food, 1 of your characters will get marked with a starvation marker, which is just like an injury in this game). If a character gets 2 injuries (be it a combat injury or starvation marker) they'll die. mzinn Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2014 770 0 16 #4 mzinn, Nov 13, 2016 Thank you so much for the info & insight! Ways to Win: 1) Have your group survive a full year (so I assume 365 days). 2) Complete the upgrading of your base to a full settlement. 3) Complete the entire line of primary objective quests. Ways to Lose: 1) Letting your party leader get killed. 2) Allow too many crises to go off unchecked. Has it kept your interest and is the depth enough to warrant it being a 'must have' or at the very least 'should try'? Price has dropped and thought it looked a little diffferent, so may consider picking it up. Thanks. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
