Everyone is low level so it's still pretty even. Use extra minions and gear to level up your current gear. I noticed 4-5* gear take a lot to level so burn extras on lower star gear/minions. 3* all stages for extra rewards, you are given extra AP every few stages as well. Buy a skin ASAP, you can get some minor upgrades just spending gold earned. PvP is a must in this game to enhance your main characters, so don't shy away from it. Area 3 the difficulty starts picking up, for me at least it did. You may have to run a level twice to get 3*s on it. Definitely enhance minions and gear before getting there!
