Yeah... It was just supposed to be a more casual spinoff to World Of Warcraft TCG (it even uses the same artworks) but it just got big really quick.

Exact-Psience My 2014 Top 10 Games of the Year: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Hearthstone, VVVVVV, Battleheart Legacy, Wayward Souls, Bug Heroes 2, Powerpuff Girls Defenders of Townsville, Deep Loot, Monument Valley, Bioshock Honorable Mentions: Traps N Gemstones, Bardbarian, Goblin Sword

I feel like even with a small team they pump out pretty balanced content pretty fast as well. They must be making a killing off this game though.

I'm excited about the update, however, imo, no update of any kind will change the true problem with the game (and any TCG game for that matter) — net decking. I just hate that so many aren't creative enough or brave enough to try out their "own" creations and be damned what the "pros" do.

As for the update, I'm a little sad that other than Wild play, whole chunks of the library will cease to be relevant unless (and I hope they do this) that they might randomly "activate" sets each year. For example, next year it's Classic + LOE + TGT + New set. And the year after its Classic + year 1 New set + year 2 new set + GvG + new adventure. Something like that. Kind of like how Disney pulls movies in and out of the vault yearly.

The problem is, Blizzard is in the business of selling cards.

I don't know, that seems like a double edged sword to me, if whole sets become abandoned (except in Wild, which sounds like a bag-of-cats to me), then I would think people will be less likely to pay into the game knowing that the investment is no longer "eternal." Conversely, you might get a certain audience that will buy into new sets more aggressively because there is now a time limit to grinding for booster packs. I see it both ways.

Either way, I would think my scenario would serve all audiences and result in greater adoption. To use the same analogy, Disney pulls Bambie out of the "vault" and the masses run to buy it before it goes away again.

That's been my dilemma since the announcement. My "investment" into current packs is now limited to 2 year standard play.
Don't get me wrong, I've purchased every expansion and spent quite a sum on packs but now knowing they may no longer be of value in standard play, I'm a touch more hesitant.
I will likely still pre purchase the next set and see how things play out but as of today, I just don't feel the same way about "investing" in packs when they will become obsolete in 2 years time. That totally changed my perspective now.

Again, this is coming from someone who had never played ccg games before and just unsure how this shake up will be in the end but I'm a little concerned.

Was just thinking of crafting Malgamis the other day for a warlock deck but now I won't for sure.
Have been debating my Elise Starseeker golden card for weeks and sure am glad I didn't as she'll be gone from standard play in 2 yrs.
Sure doesn't seem to be a point in getting attached to cards anymore...

If in the end I prefer The Wild, then all will basically be the same, but if Standard is where all the balancing and new deck ideas emerge, then my sense is I'd prefer to be there...

Yet at they same time, they are making the classic set relevant again.

Also, unless I missed it, they didn't state anything about how this affects brawls. Since brawls run in their own set of rules, I'm betting we'll see some weeks that allow legacy cards.

Yeah, it was in the FAQ. Some weeks will be wild, some weeks will be standard...they have their own rules so they can do what they want

Woohoo! Was able to push to rank5 this last week from rank12. First time hitting that rank, as this is the first time i really sank time into ranked play.

As expected, mostly played Tempo Mage and Secret Pally, with a light mix of everything else. Im glad my version of golden mokey warrior was able to push through.
