Hi guys Okay, i've been iPhone gaming since 2008 and I'm still unsure about why apple don't like nintendo games. I know that commodore app has been pulled, and mariotd will soon, but why? Is it nintendo? Is it mario? What is it? Can someone please explain? Thanks Ell
Look, Nintendo only does games on their platforms. And it's copyright stealing so if Nintendo reports something to Apple they have to delete it.
they are in competition with each other. would nintendo want mario to be featured in iphone games? no, because then the nintendo DS would soon be thrown by the wayside. the DS is inferior the the iphone and is on the decline. with mario on the iphone, there would be no reason for the DS
It's not that Apple doesn't like Nintendo. Maybe it's Nintendo that doesn't like Apple. But again, "like" is not the right word. Apple and Nintendo now are competitors. If people keep buying Nintendo stuff nowadays is because Nintendo has some good titles and famous buddies working for their company. One of these guys is Mario. If you send Mario to a trip to Cupertino, few people will buy your obento. Got it?
Ahh thanks guys I get it now! Because nintendo own mario, they don't want to release mario featured games 'cause the sales of ds's would go down or such thanks
Dont get me wrong, im an ipod gamer too, but saying ds is inferior to iphone or ipod isnt quite right ds is targeted for kids, u dont give a 7-8 year old an ipod touch do u?
DS is dedicated to gaming gaming wasn't the primary function of an ipod touch when it was first released. it still isn't
i work at Bestbuy (you know, im still in high school) and i actually saw more people buying wii/ds than ipod or xbox this christmas/new year... that's just my point of view lol.
So much bloody ignorance. The DS sold 1.7 million systems in the US alone, just in November... and its overall software sales continue to improve year on year. The DS is far from on the decline. EDIT: Looks like it is beyond 115 million now, it was at 113 million in Sept 2009. By the time you add the figures leading up to and including Dec, the thing will be closer to 120 million and beyond.
Actually, the DS is targeted for all ages. That's from a child all the way up to an old age pensioner. Nintendo hasn't spent tens of millions on marketing for the past four years, and seen their consumer base expand beyond expectations (now at 115 million worldwide) for no reason, you know. Their reports clearly state that certain demographics, especially adults (25-40, near equal split between male and female) have considerably increased, and now make up for a large of their sales. Overall, that 115 million install base is nicely balanced out between children, teens and adults, just like the PS1 and PS2 were. Because after all you don't get to hit a figure like 115 million (and growing, fast) by just hitting (even mostly) one demographic.
I give my iPhone to my 2 year old nephew as he likes to play music on it. (Piano apps and ocarina on touch mode.)
Indeed, the ipod touch is getting to the price where parents can afford it for their kids. My two nephews and neice received an ipod touch each from their parents this christmas, and only one of them is of teenage years (14).
