Tattoo Wars by Gale Force Logic - Now in Early Development

Gale Force Logic is pleased to officially announce the development of our first Force 2 Games project, Tattoo Wars - our first casual mobile game coming soon to the App Store!

    The Concept

Tattoo Wars is a 2D arcade shooter for iOS where players use a tribal tattoo as a flying warship to survive an onslaught of enemy tattoos and score as many points as possible.

Players pilot a tribal tattoo travelling across the human anatomy, encountering enemy tattoos destined to destroy you. Your enemies take numerous forms, such as poisonous scorpions, barbwire snakes, flaming skulls, and fire breathing dragons. You eliminate your enemies by shooting them with a tribal laser, scoring points while managing to evade them with quick thinking movements.

Every aspect of Tattoo Wars resembles a tattoo. From the game menus, to the enemies, weapons and power-ups, the entire game is designed to thrust you into an animated world inhabited by various incantations of tattoos.

    The Development

Tattoo Wars is an idea that has been on the books for quite some time. You can see that some EARLY progress has been made by checking out this development progress video:

    To summarize:

    • Start Menu Scenes complete.
    • Level Select screen complete.
    • Control schemes complete (touch, tilt, joypad).
    • In Game there’s progress, but much to do here (collision, firing, etc.)
    • We’ve got all the art assets completed for the game HUD, and the first 5 or so levels.
    • All the audio in the game is complete including a hard rocking soundtrack!
    • After we get our first version up on the App Store, the plan is to also incorporate OpenFeint.

    The Plan
Although we have our milestones laid out for us to complete, we certainly would like to hear what everyone thinks so far of the project- what could we do? what could we add, delete, change? Is this something you would buy, or download for free and perhaps purchase in-game items for? All feedback is certainly welcome. We plan to update our progress on the project on a weekly basis, so be sure to come back next week when we report again on our progress. I really, really like the Soundtrack so far. Honestly i like it more then the actual Gameplay that seem to be an R-Type Clone.

Remember that this game is very early in development. We believe that the point of this game is to illustrate our team's grasp of classic arcade games. You're right that this game is greatly inspired by games like R-Type, especially since R-Type is perhaps one of my all-time favorite side-scrolling shooters. We're hoping to add some unique twists to the core gameplay mechanics so that we can set it apart from R-Type, and any ideas you have to support that is certainly appreciated!

One note on the music- this early peek video we posted here is actually using placeholder music. We do find it interesting that you feel an ambient soundtrack bodes well with this title, since the audio we prepared is more along the lines of hard rock. We'll keep that in mind as we progress.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Keep it comin'.
