I tried the game (as part of a FAS ad campaign), too.
Just wanted to fire it up for a sec but got hooked fast.
Cool gameplay, very cool gfx and animations.
But these paywalls and IAP... *sigh*
After 1.5 hours, it becomes an unbelievable grindfest. Damn.

I really like the game...But the IAPs are indeed steep. Very steep. It has taken a LOT of gronding, but I'm pretty far in the game now. The new update is a huge relief: all seems to be a bit more balanced now and from the daily rewards, I've had a very powerful shield already. It seems that the huge RNG involved in leveling your gear, has been flattend a bit. I have more 'hits' than 'misses' lately, which I appreciate.
Have to confess that I indeed bought the lowest IAP tier...out of frustration. But felt a bit dirty for handing it over to Glu afterwards :-/

All in all it is -as others have stated as well- a very potential game, but it's crippled by the GGP (Greedy Glu's Paywalls). Shame.
