Awesome. I've never played Portal before, and I'm just about to get into the computer gaming scene again. Downloading Steam right now.
I have a question about steam. Does it work just like the AppStore? I mean, if I purchase a game on my account, can i redownload it again as many times as I want on other computers for free if I'm signed in with the same account?
is this like true?? cuz if it is ima go and and DL this havent played the first one even though im crazy to!
That is just for the valve fan pack. The actual game is Free so just click on the icon and then hit install game.
ahahah indeed just click on the portal game that says $19.99 and there u will see the different types of bundles and the standalone game and just hit install game !! o and thx for that needed to know
Yeah you can redownload it on another computer as long as you sign into the same account on that computer. But I think there might be a limit as to prevent one guy from giving everyone the game.
Yes you can even go to a friend's house and login to your account and have full access to all your games (you still have to redownload it). Most games have cloud saving so you pick up right where you left off too.
Showing up free for me! And yeah, you can download it on more than one computer, I've been on steam since 2007 and have downloaded the same game on at least three different computers, but I think you can only be logged in on one computer at a time.
Sir, I disrespect you for not playing the most humorous and best physic puzzle adventure game on the whole planet after the sequel May the cake be with you.
Sorry :[. I'll be sure to get Portal to if I like this one, no doubt. Hm, there's only 239 titles available for the Mac on Steam though..that's quite disappointing. Guess I'll have to use the Mac AppStore as well paired with Steam.
Whoa. Next question. When you play games through Steam, do you have to actually be signed on to your account? Meaning, if I want to play an online game purchased from steam with two computers using one account, would that be impossible?
Yes you have to be signed in the Steam client to play games bought on your account (there are a few exceptions where you can launch the exe without steam). Only one account can be signed in on one computer at a time, if you try to login on another while still signed in, you enter the info, but it will kick you out of the previous computer. Also since portal has the "SteamPlay" you can login and play the game on either windows or mac (you don't have to buy the game twice).
