Can you run a small company with a game and userbase line OMGPOP with just 4 people? A single programmer, artist, sound person and a marketer?
Instagram has 13 people total and 40m users. Nimblebit who made Tiny Tower has 2 staff and over 1m DAU.
I'm not pretty sure of it, it's more about what they intend to do, not only the code, the code cannot handle 40 millions users without a server care..
Of course, I could have gone more into depth but the gave a generic response to the generic question. It depends on your server, it's RAM and CPU, how clean your code is, how 'chatty' your game/app is plus 101 other important things.
BTW, because we're talking about server stuff, I would like to ask also about the Cloud option. Which Cloud service that we often use while producing game on iOS?
Pictionary? really.. you need to ask that.. hmm well i ask myself why did ynga not buy stabilo, pentel, pilor, staedtler or any colored pencil making company.. oh wait.. one has nothing to do with the other.. maybe you should turn on your ios device and check for yourself why zynga did not bought pictionary. just read the appstore reviews for it and you will find enlightenment.. any maybe the fact that this brand belong to a company that is alot bigger than zynga?
This game Draw Something was a Facebook game also this changes a lot the view to buy from big companies and not just a game on Iphone and Ipad
The acquisition of OMGPop by Zynga was motivated only by the user base and revenues being generated by Draw Something on mobile. Hasbro has a market cap of ~$4.6b currently versus a market cap of ~$6.6b for Zynga.
